Versions
$15.65 With the release of GET LUCKY, Mark Knopfler has made as many solo studio albums as he made group studio albums with Dire Straits, which itself may be a signal that it's time to stop comparing his two careers and simply accept them as separate entities. Of course, since Knopfler was the lead singer, chief instrumentalist, and songwriter for Dire Straits, there are obvious similarities, even if he has taken a deliberately different path as a ...

$15.25 This reissue of REVOLVER has been digitally re-mastered. It comes packaged with replicated original U.K. album art, an expanded booklet containing original and newly written liner notes, and rare photos. Limited quantities of the CD are embedded with a brief documentary film about the album.
Arguably the first psychedelic rock album, REVOLVER was praised for its musical experimentation--the Indian sounds of "Love You To," the Motown-inspired "Got To Get You Into My Life," the backwards guitar in "I'm Only Sleeping." "Tomorrow Never Knows" was the most radical departure from ...

| | Lambchop I Hope You're Sitting Down CD (1994)
Versions
$10.59 Lambchop mixes a wry, somewhat warped sensibility with a spacious, Quaalude-dipped sonic conception and spreads this unlikely concoction over the tried-and-true musical verities of rock, folk, and country. While singer Kurt Wagner's intimate, world-weary talk-singing relates lyrics that are at once ironic, silly, and highly poetic, lush arrangements of strings, horns, and organ (as well as mandolin, ukelele, and banjo) create a dynamically shifting noise seduction.
"Begin," "You Are The Very Air He Breathes," and "I Will Drive Slowly" investigate a surreal romantic world that charms and intrigues. One of Lambchop's best tricks is the band's ...

| | Brooke Trout Networth CD (2009)
Versions
$11.49 Brooke Trout's signature polyphonic mix of punk, blues and ska returns with her second album Networth (Empire Recording Studio) featuring mixing engineer Chuck Wilson (Andre 3000, Dr. Dre, Rihanna) and mastering by Grammy Award winner Nancy Matter (The Who, Ray Charles). The album was recorded live between two bands, The Treble Hooks & The Anchor Men, capturing a sound that has been compared to X-Ray Spex, Dead Kennedys, Siouxsie and The Banshees, Mr. Bungle and X. Networth is the follow up to Brooke Trout’s debut alternative new wave album Bittersweet (SoftEgg Studios, 2007). The album achieved airplay on several radio stations and podcasts, as well as positive reviews in the press where Trout was compared to alternative artists like Souixsie Souix, Exene Cervenka and Sinéad O'Connor. Brooke Trout was nominated for All Access Magazine’s 2007 Music Award Show for best female guitarist in a rock, melodic blues category, best female guitarist in a pop, alternative category and best songwriter. In 2008 Brooke Trout was made a Member of the Month for singer/songwriter organization Songsalive!. Networth is a contrapuntal play with genre; shifting from the the dirty grunge of the title track to the rockabilly jazz synthesis of Mine. Brooke’s bittersweet returns with the haunting Tom Waits inspired harmonica stylings of Hades & Persephone and the ska-polka of Compartmentalized Life. Lyrically this is a concept album. The economic crisis becomes an introspection on the value of life, love and self-worth. As a follow up to Bittersweet’s scathing satire, Suburban Cocktail, the title track continues to scorch, “I don’t swear by the name of the Lord who you shame with the blame and blood and wine and love in vain/And the screams and the dreams and the reams of the right and the light and the sight you see obscures the truth from you.” The follow up to Bittersweet’s Roller Coaster Lover is the provocative blues jam Get Lucky that compares sex to gambling, "Your mind like a spinning wheel roulette game/Your cards down your chips have fallen off the table/You think that you’ve won but I’ma set you straight/I’m a winning bet/So put it all in me/I’ll help you forget/I’ll break your losing streak/If you put all you have on me." The album is already getting great reviews in the press and from fans: "This chick's Lene Lovich styled vocal delivery is pretty cool. The twangy guitars in the breakdown are tasteful & well done. It's a creative blend of twang, punk, new wave & god know what else...This is something that would've easily fit into the London punk underground back in 1980 or so. This is retro cool & I have no doubt there's an audience for these cats..."- Garageband review of title track by SIIN from Crawfordsville, Indiana "Here she comes again, swimming into our speakers with a quirky perk that defies strict categorization...Many have noted that Brooke has affection for a ska-ish tempo...accented by her trademark vocal antics, including squeaks, chirps and trills... In the title track, Brooke channels a taste of Alanis Morissette with her biting lyrics, but the voice ...
