Ron White made his hay as a member of "The Blue Collar Comedy Tour," alongside fellow sons of the South Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, and Larry the Cable Guy. The show played to sold-out audiences in over 90 cities, with appearances on LATE NIGHT WITH DAVID LETTERMAN, Comedy Central, and CAROLINE'S COMEDY HOUR, where White crafted his self-deprecating comedic chops to a razor's edge. His debut album DRUNK IN PUBLIC is a hilarious delight. Unlike Foxworthy and Engvall, White eschews song parodies and instead goes straight to observational humor.
With the sound of ice clinking in his glass of booze, raspy-voiced White rails against vegetarians and Hollywood fakes ("Ten Days In Los Angeles"), the problems with marrying into a rich family ("Married a Wealthy Woman"), and the pretentious in-laws that come with it ("Lug Nut Day"). White wraps up this tight package of laughs with "They Call Me 'Tater Salad'," a story that cleverly explains his unusual nickname and the title DRUNK IN PUBLIC.

| | Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie CD (2003) Original Soundtrack
Drunk In Public CD music
$10.69 The Blue Collar Comedy Tour was like the World Series of redneck humor. Four of the genre's most beloved practitioners hit the road together, bringing down the house night after night with their patented brand of homespun hilarity. The subsequent, seemingly inevitable film of that tour has resulted in an audio companion. The BLUE COLLAR COMEDY TOUR captures some of the funniest moments from the movie, giving all four comedians a chance to shine. Ron White's regular-guy routine is full of hysterical trailer-trash vignettes that capture the audience's imagination. Bill Engvall is probably the least overt in terms of "hick schtick," but his sentiments nevertheless lie squarely with his Blue Collar brethren. Larry the Cable Guy makes Andrew Dice Clay seem hoity-toity, with his exaggerated accent and purposefully dumber-than-thou agenda. Jeff Foxworthy is the best known of the group, and is the man who brought this kind of comedy to the mainstream. His segment naturally includes his famous "You Might Be a Redneck" ...

| | Trick Pony R.I.D.E. CD (2005)
Drunk In Public CD music
$7.29 R.I.D.E., the title of Trick Pony's third album, stands for "Rebellious Individuals Delivering Entertainment." Of course, in 2000's Nashville, rebelling could often mean playing straight-up old-school country while not taking oneself too seriously, two pursuits at which Trick Pony excels. A slice of good-time barroom country rock, R.I.D.E. manages to sound staunchly traditional while never sticking too close to a formula. Primary lead vocalist Heidi Newfield comes off like a bawdy mix of Tanya Tucker, Loretta Lynn, and Mae West, delivering the pure honky-tonk of "Ain't Wastin' Good Whiskey On You" and the tears-in-your-beer emotion of "When I Fall" with equal panache. It's guitarist Keith Burns, however, who delivers the record's most accessible song with "Sad City," which features a guest vocal from Hootie & The Blowfish's Darius Rucker. A mix of sawdust, sweat, and jumbotron-ready party spirit, this R.I.D.E. is guaranteed to be a wild one.
