After the intro track, IT'S ME AGAIN cuts to the impressive single "Turn Da Lights Out," featuring wispy vocals backed by a captivating, crackling vinyl backdrop. Hip-hop, jazz, and R&B are mixed flawlessly on "Could It Be," a darkly beautiful ballad sung with Rell. On "You," Tweet drops wildly inventive lines of heartbreak over a breakbeat interpolation of Hoagy Carmichael's "Stardust" for a starkly inventive and thoroughly catchy song. By then, it's clear that Tweet is not your ordinary R&B chanteuse, and IT'S ME AGAIN is definitely not your ordinary record.
While she was initially presented to the world as a protege of Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott and Timbaland, Charlene "Tweet" Keys immediately proved herself no mere follower, with the delectable and diverse debut SOUTHERN HUMMINGBIRD. On IT'S ME AGAIN, Tweet confirms her independence with a remarkably adventurous record that is smoothly seductive and giddily fun at the same time. Here Tweet creates clever, original, and moving songs that straddle the line somewhere between neo-soul and modern mainstream R&B, wrapping her sweet-and-sultry voice around each tune with wicked effect. And, of course, having Elliott's able, artful production on most songs certainly doesn't hurt.
Personnel: Tweet (vocals); Rell, Tashawna (vocals); Missy Elliott (rap vocals); John Jubu Smith, Charlie Bereal (guitar); Craig Brockman (keyboards).

Her voice + old school sound = platinum hits This is definitely the type of album where you have to sit and really listen to the words more than once. Even though I am a Tweet fan, at the beginning I was disappointed until I sat down and listened to songs 1-9 closely one day and 10-16 the next day and realized this is some good old school sound. I love Cab Ride and believe that if that was the first single, the album really would have took off. I love Tweet and for her next album I really hope she does a song that is really an attention grabber so that more people will go album and look for this album. It's Me Again CD music
$9.49 Six years after cutting his musical teeth as a teen, tickling the ivories on the classic Lauryn Hill single "Everything Is Everything," John Stephens popped up everywhere in 2004, going by the bold name of John Legend. His ubiquity was unsurprising, since he was taken under the wing of Kanye West, the year's breakout success, who tabbed Legend "the future of hip-hop." It's an interesting label for a man whose elegant voice and schooled songwriting conjures up Bill Withers and Al Green, but sometimes the future intersects with the past in a manner transcending revival.

$8.99 The first season of AMERICAN IDOL built up to the final week where Kelly Clarkson won most of the spoils. The second season swiftly closed to a battle between Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard, with both achieving superstardom. In its third season, the variety show seemed to result in record deals for almost all of the finalists; however, it was the tough-edged, soulful voice of Fantasia Barrino that finally overwhelmed the judges.

It's Me Again CD music
$10.79 This version contains a P. Diddy/Mario Winans remix of the song, "No More Drama."
"He Think I Don't Know" won the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
From P Diddy to Lenny Kravitz, a plethora of producers and guest stars graces this updated, remix-added version of Mary J. Blige's 2001 NO MORE DRAMA, a situation usually signaling a dearth of creativity on behalf of the featured artist. Fortunately that's not the case here. Blige is fully in control, from a lyrical reworking of the '70s Al Green classic "Simply Beautiful" entitled "PMS," which could well become an anthem for women suffering from those disabling symptoms, to the Dr. Dre-produced "Family Affair," in which this classic R&B singer self-confidently modernizes her image for the J-Lo generation.
"He Think I Don't Know" is vintage Blige, her roots firmly in late-'70s deep soul, while the autobiographical "Where I've Been" features Eve paying homage to a woman who's struggled through poverty and drug addiction and come out the other side a stronger person. This is a masterful effort that finds Mary J. Blige successfully updating her sound while retaining the musical depth that got her where she is today.
Listeners of Mary J. Blige's seasoned and confident fifth studio release will have zero problems remembering the album's title, No More Drama. An urban-sounding vocal sample that sings, "Mary J. Blige, no more drama," plays throughout the length of the 17-track disc. This very well may be the first time such a tactic has been used in contemporary music; generally a vocal sample repeats throughout the course of ...
