While she was initially presented to the world as a protege of Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott and Timbaland, Charlene "Tweet" Keys immediately proved herself no mere follower, with the delectable and diverse debut SOUTHERN HUMMINGBIRD. On IT'S ME AGAIN, Tweet confirms her independence with a remarkably adventurous record that is smoothly seductive and giddily fun at the same time. Here Tweet creates clever, original, and moving songs that straddle the line somewhere between neo-soul and modern mainstream R&B, wrapping her sweet-and-sultry voice around each tune with wicked effect. And, of course, having Elliott's able, artful production on most songs certainly doesn't hurt.
After the intro track, IT'S ME AGAIN cuts to the impressive single "Turn Da Lights Out," featuring wispy vocals backed by a captivating, crackling vinyl backdrop. Hip-hop, jazz, and R&B are mixed flawlessly on "Could It Be," a darkly beautiful ballad sung with Rell. On "You," Tweet drops wildly inventive lines of heartbreak over a breakbeat interpolation of Hoagy Carmichael's "Stardust" for a starkly inventive and thoroughly catchy song. By then, it's clear that Tweet is not your ordinary R&B chanteuse, and IT'S ME AGAIN is definitely not your ordinary record.
Personnel include: Tweet (vocals); Rell, Tashawna (vocals); Missy Elliott (rap vocals); John "Jubu" Smith, Charlie Bereal (guitar); Craig Brockman (keyboards).
Recording information: The Hit Factory, Criteria, Miami, Florida.

"Stop Haten" Tweet is very talented and has a great voice. I enjoy listening to her sing. Submitted by Ms.T (Dayton, OH, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Her voice + old school sound = platinum hits This is definitely the type of album where you have to sit and really listen to the words more than once. Even though I am a Tweet fan, at the beginning I was disappointed until I sat down and listened to songs 1-9 closely one day and 10-16 the next day and realized this is some good old school sound. I love Cab Ride and believe that if that was the first single, the album really would have took off. I love Tweet and for her next album I really hope she does a song that is really an attention grabber so that more people will go album and look for this album. It's Me Again
$10.89 After many twists and turns, the Game finally dropped the highly anticipated THE DOCUMENTARY as the first major hip-hop release of 2005, and it's quite an opening salvo. On the Kanye West-produced "Dreams," he displays a dizzying intellect, subtly working an apt quote from Nas into an imagined bi-coastal conference between Jam Master Jay and Eazy-E. (The track also invokes political figures ranging from Ronald Reagan to Huey Newton.) The Game's clearly been immersed in the rap world from an early age, and he tips his hat to both past masters and his contemporaries, many of ...

It's Me Again
$15.89 Since Amerie broke onto the scene with her 2002 debut, ALL I HAVE, she's acted in films and been a BET television host. So for her sophomore effort, TOUCH, the D.C. native drew from these experiences in taking a bolder and more explicit approach towards revealing a more sensual and self-confident side of her persona. The 20-something songbird gets straight to the point on the Lil' Jon-produced title track, where she alternates between coyness and aggression over a squiggly synth line with a faintly Arabic ...
| | Raheem Devaughn Love Experience CD (2005)
It's Me Again
$9.75 Like Anthony Hamilton, Angie Stone, and many of the more exciting artists carelessly lumped under the banner of "neo-soul," Raheem DeVaughn has soaked up a world of musical influences (that includes, of course, the winding history of rhythm & blues) to arrive at his debut record, THE LOVE EXPERIENCE. The son of jazz cellist Abdul Wadud, Devaughn was born into music, and that heritage is far from lost on the inherently soulful singer.
"Who" melds an instantly classic melody (that ...

It's Me Again
$10.99 This version contains a P. Diddy/Mario Winans remix of the song, "No More Drama."
"He Think I Don't Know" won the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
From P Diddy to Lenny Kravitz, a plethora of producers and guest stars graces this updated, remix-added version of Mary J. Blige's 2001 NO MORE DRAMA, a situation usually signaling a dearth of creativity on behalf of the featured artist. Fortunately that's not the case here. Blige is fully in control, from a lyrical reworking of the '70s Al Green classic "Simply Beautiful" entitled "PMS," which could well become an anthem for women suffering from those disabling symptoms, ...

$12.69 Acoustic-Funk-Balladry? Pop-Blues-Americana? These are the noble attempts at classifying the original music created by the California based singer songwriter Ryan Bisio. Typically garnering praise for his charismatic, humorous stage presence and magnetic personality, it is Bisio’s ability to fuse genres into original songs which enables music fans the unique entertainment experience.Bisio’s live solo performance defies what even the most veteran music lovers have come to expect. Bisio has opened for Grammy Award Winning artist Shelby Lynne, and Rolling Stone’s Top 100 guitarist ...
