Iron Maiden - 'Maiden Voyage' (Audio Archives)
First off, this is not the '80's metal band with the masterpieces 'Powerslave' and 'Live After Death' that many of have come to know and love. This is the sole album, recorded in 1969 by a short-lived UK 'progressive heavy rock' band. Some might consider it to be an early doom metal effort.Line-up:Steve Drewett-vocals,Trever Thoms(later to join Nik Turner's Inner City Unit) -guitar),Barry Skeels-bass and Paul Reynolds-drums.An okay rarity on CD reissue.

Straight up hard rock
To everyone who is confused, this is not the famous iron maiden band with steve harris and it has no relation to that band at all. This album was made in either 1969 or 1970 and it is one of the best rock albums I have ever heard. It's mostly hard rock but it's got a little bit of psychedelic and doomy stuff too. It kind of reminds me of early Black Sabbath, led zeppelin, the who and stuff like that. It's a shame that these guys didn't get famous, if they didn't break up so soon then they would have been big in the seventies. It's got some great little jams in some of the songs and the singing is great too.

Voyage to the first Iron Maiden
This album is actually a compilation of demo tapes of the original album that have been lost.Steve Harris(today`s Iron Maiden) is from the same area as those members from the old Iron Maiden,so probably thats how he came up with the idea to take that name,or maybe it is a same band, all the original members left the band, new people came in,Steve came, than he became a leader and the rest is history, who knows?Anyway songs are great, dark, bluesy and long.Rare cd so better get it.
