Originally released by Epic Records in the mid-'60s, these recordings of vocalist Nancy Ames remained out of print for many years until being reissued on CD by Collecters Choice in 2003. Twenty-two romantic melodies of the era are explored with Latin overtones including "La Sombra de Tu Sonrisa The Shadow of Your Smile" "Un Gusto a Miel (A Taste of Honey)," "A Man and a Woman (Un Homme et une Femme)" along with several pop hits made famous by the Four Tops, the Beatles, and the Association. Also tacked on as bonus tracks are the 1966 hits "He Wore the Green Beret," and "Cry Softly," making this reissue recommended for both collectors and casual listeners. ~ Al Campbell

Nancy was one of the big winners of the informal poll we took of our customers as to whom they'd like to see reissued, so we went out and grabbed these two Latin-flavored albums from 1967 out of the Epic vaults, and added her two charting hit singles as bonus tracks, 'He Wore The Green Beret' & 'Cry Softly', for a total of 22 tasty tracks! A lot of people remember Nancy for how she introduced the TV show 'That Was the Week That Was' with vivacious renditions of Tom Lehrer tunes, but she was also a Broadway lead and quite a singer with a natural bent (her grandfather was President of Panama!) for the south-of-the-border stylings you'll hear here. I met Nancy in Cleveland back in the sixties when is appeared at the Chateau Supper Club. I bought most of her early records. I very glad you made available this CD.
