Marvin Winans rose to recognition as the lead vocalist of the family-based gospel group the Winans, and his solo albums have brimmed over with all of the passion, talent, and charisma he displayed on the Winans' recordings. ALONE BUT NOT ALONE, Marvin's fourth solo outing, is one of his best. Blending traditional gospel with contemporary R&B, funk, and even touches of jazz, Winans upholds his devotion to his faith, testifying wholeheartedly in songs like "I Still Believe" and "He Brought Me Joy." At age 14, as the bassist for a local band, "The Candy Store Syndicate", Bill's group opened for Ted Nugent & the Amboy Dukes, Vanilla Fudge, and Stevie Wonder. When he was 21, he wrote his first of three musical scores for a production that premiered at the University of Toledo.
