A sampling of songs featured on the hit TV show, THE O.C.: MIX 1 is an eclectic collection of alternative music that expertly reflects the various moods and personalities of the program's teen characters. Given that the series takes place in California, this compilation presents a surprisingly large number of UK artists, including South (the orchestral waves of "Paint the Shine"), Doves (the majestic "Caught By the River"), and Turin Brakes (the melancholy "Rain City"). Welsh performer Jem also makes a strong showing with the bouncy, Dido-gone-funky sound of "Just a Ride." Bringing things stateside is singer/songwriter Joseph Arthur, who contributes the hushed, lovelorn lullaby "Honey and the Moon." Other Americans include the Dandy Warhols (the electronic-laced rocker "We Used to Be Friends") and Phantom Planet, who bring things full circle with the power pop of the show's theme song, "California."

4 stars good cd to put in when you wanna wind down
This cd really suprised me with its mellow tempo and calming lyrics. I like to listen to this after i've had a rough day. It also really opened my eyes to some bands that i have never heard of.

4 stars "The O.C." sdtk rocks
This cd is one of my favs.When you want to relax and just mellow out just pop in this cd.This was a great way for some bands on this cd to get exposure and open listeners minds to more less known musicians like myself.I can't wait for the next one!

I love this cd its easy to relax and unwind and if you love the show like me remember the scene each song was in! My faves are: Dandy Warhols - We used to be friends and of course, Phantom Planet - California Buy this you will be impressed!
