Mouichido Ichikara Denoshimasu/Junko/Gomene album
$13.05 Sure, John Doe will always be best known as the driving force behind thinking-man's punks X, but even in the 1980s he was exploring country with side-project the Knitters, and his later solo albums mined a decidedly more Americana-oriented lode. So his collaboration with Canadian country outfit the Sadies shouldn't come as too much of a shock. Together, Doe and the Sadies take a spirited run through the classic-country songbook, interpreting tunes by old-school honky-tonk heroes like Hank Williams and Porter Wagoner as well as '60s new-Nashville icons like Kris Kristofferson and Roger Miller. Doe's deep, mellifluous voice sits comfortably atop the sparkling twang of the Sadies, both parties exuding a reverence for the material while still managing to put a personal stamp on the tunes.

| | White Lies Death (2008) 3 versions
Mouichido Ichikara Denoshimasu/Junko/Gomene album
$4.19 From West London comes the powerful rock trio White Lies, a band whose sound is simultaneously familiar and refreshingly new. DEATH offers just a glimpse into the band's immense potential with a charming blend of post-punk, New Wave, and alternative rock. As a taste of things to come, this EP features two brand-new songs, as well as remixes by Crystal Castles and Haunts.

Lyricist: Charles Cave.

| | Skunk Anansie Twisted (2007) CD 1
Mouichido Ichikara Denoshimasu/Junko/Gomene songs
$12.99 Skunk Anansie were a hard-rocking, outspoken post-grunge outfit from the mid-1990s, led by the uber-charismatic frontwoman, Skin. Although they charted in the U.K., the band never quite caught on in the States, and disintegrated after their third album. This extended single contains the title track (a number 26 hit in the U.K. in 1996) plus three remixed album tracks, distinct from the bonus tracks on "Twisted CD 2."
