Throughout the '70s, Jethro Tull was one of the world's premier live acts, regularly playing to sold-out audiences in huge arenas all over the world. With his inimitable theatrics and manic flute improvisations, Ian Anderson was always the consummate showman, and he peppers these performances with the relaxed, cheeky stage patter of a seasoned veteran.
BURSTING OUT is a live collection taken from a tour in 1978, by which time Tull had shifted from epic, side-long projects to a more accessible, pastoral folk/rock orientation. Thus, the set-list emphasizes songs from the lush, acoustic SONGS FROM THE WOOD (1977) as well as material from the upcoming HEAVY HORSES (the charming "One Brown Mouse" and the sprightly "Hunting Girl.") But there is still a large dose of classic crowd-pleasing material: "Minstrel in the Gallery," a lengthy excerpt of "Thick as a Brick," "Locomotive Breath" and of course, Tull's anthem celebrating rock's most celebrated "poor old sod, "Aqualung." This is really the last official document of an era, capturing Tull at the top of its game. In the next few years, several members left and Anderson retooled the band's sound and image for a new decade.

Top of their game. This live abbum is the best JT have ever realesed. I'm sure Mr Anderson if he wanted, could go back through his massive archive and find more if he wanted, but thi is it for now.
This from the '78 Tour of Europe seeing the best without doubt JT line up. The Finally is worth the price of admission alone. it also includes a creditable live version of Thick as a Brick. The best attempt I've heard. Can we have a full live rendition of this Mr Anderson?? Submitted by ilovea2 (Australia) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo

One Of The Best Live Albums Of All Time This amazing live album from 1978 is a must have for any fan of "classic rock". Ian Anderson and his band are truly fantastic here, navigating through "Thick As A Brick", "Hunting Girl" and "Skating Away" as if they were NOT complex pieces of music. The only complaints I ever had with this album was the editing of Ian's comments and the much too short version of "Cross Eyed Mary". But nearly thirty years later, it remains the best live album in the Tull discography. The second best in my opinion is the "Live At Carnegie Hall" disc in the "25th Anniversary Box Set".
