The 2004 Asian edition features an additional enhanced disc with four tracks and two videos.
With distinct, cuttingly insightful, yet subtle lyrics fed over consistently catchy beats and eclectic arrangements, L.A.'s Black Eyed Peas have earned a high level of respect within the rap world, significant attention at college radio, and even the occasional crossover hit. Third release ELEPHUNK sees the addition of a fourth member, enchanting female vocalist Fergie (introduced with verve on the dancehall "Hey Mama"), and the continued elevation of their style and skills, as the group journeys all over the map, never falling into a funk of boredom.
ELEPHUNK opens the ears from the outset with the flophouse jazz backbeat of "Hands Up," simultaneously easy-going and infectious, before crashing into the fluorescent, straight-up party anthem "Labor Day" using the familiar JB's "The Grunt" sample as successfully as the Bomb Squad did back in 1988. Then there's the perfectly chiseled but fiery "Shut Up" with its insistent Knight Rider-theme beat and call-and-response. ELEPHUNK closes on an unlikely duet with Justin Timberlake, "Where Is the Love," an earnest state-of-the-world ballad that somehow creates a fitting ending to a solid album from one of hip-hop's most intelligent groups.
Special Asian edition of the critically acclaimed hip hop act's 2003 album features 20 tracks including a bonus AVCD with six extra tracks, featuring 2 video tracks, 'Where Is The Love' (Video) & 'Shut Up' (Video), along with 4 audio tracks, 'Where Is The Love' (Instrumental), 'Shut Up' (Instrumental), 'Sumthin For That Ass' (non-LP version), & 'Tell Your Mama Come' (live from the House of Blues). Great Style! I love this CD! Their reggae funk style offers a nice change from the normal hip-hop music I listen to. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who loves hip-hop, funk or reggae. Their music hit the TV first...Hey Mama was the first iPod commercial, Let's Get it Started was remade for the NBA Finals and The Boogie That Be just hit the TV commercial where the country people are line dancing to a funky song. They have a great style and are now my favorite group! Submitted by linda.eldridge (Riverside CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 6 of 9 found this helpful. This review is for a different format.

Great CD, but did the CD raters miss something? Elephunk is probably my all-time fave CD! I just love the rhythms and the beat. BEP outdid themselves with Monkey Business as well, but nothing beats their debut album with Fergie. I definitely recommend this album!
One quick comment - I'm an avid dancer and my dance teachers used the track Boogie That Be at last year's recitals, thinking nothing of it because "the CD is not explicit." WRONG! They actually do use the F-word in Boogie That Be, but the CD doesn't indicate so! I see that CD Universe has this CD listed as explicit, but no where else does.
But all in all, GREAT cd. Submitted by Em (Vermont) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 4 found this helpful. This review is for a different format.
