THANK YOU MR. JOHNSON
I first heard of Robert Johnson 30+ years ago when I read that he was Clapton's favorite blues artist. At last, here is the finest collection of cover songs of all time. These songs are OLD..many from the 1930s, lovingly and respectfully done by one of the best artists the world has produced, and along with the venerable Billy Preston, Clapton pays homage to his hero. If you are not familiar with Robert Johnson, now is the time. There is not a bad lick in the bunch.
Also highly recommended is the video, "The Search For Robert Johnson."
Thanks, Eric, for helping us learn more about our own music, and for keeping the memory of Mr. Johnson alive.

Routine
Clapton's 1st blues album back to the cradle is his best effort. I expected this would match if not exceed it, the music being by Clapton's blues idol. But no, this is a disappointment. It is a professional effort, routine, no excitement on any of the tracks. Guitar is heard seldom, and solos are short, also sounding routine. The sound is OK, standard, muddy by design at times. You can safely pass this by.
