Zakk Wylde is among a rare breed of guitar heroes, an iconic role that, by the time of this release in 2004, had all but disappeared from hard rock. Not simply content with sideman status (as a veteran of the Ozzy Osbourne band), Wylde uses Black Label Society to channel his songwriting and his voice into a persona akin to a demonically possessed Bob Seger. For this volume of raunchy, Southern-tinged, blues-based hard rock, the approach is scaled back from his usual unforgiving style.
HANGOVER MUSIC VOL. 6 features songs predominantly built around acoustic guitar and piano. Fans of Wylde's soloing style will be blissfully sated; his overdriven, searing vibrato and screaming false harmonics are as omnipresent as ever. Echoes of Alice in Chains ("Queen of Sorrow"), Zakk's mentor Ozzy ("Steppin' Stone"), and even his inaugural solo outfit, Pride & Glory, ring out clearly here. A gut-wrenching treatment of Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale" rounds out the modestly produced, solid set.

But i'm gonna lay it out anyways....I think this is a spectacular effort on Wylde's part, it shows that he can write music that isn't filled with balls-out heaviness, but with heart-felt meaning that pours with emotion. Hangover music is an album that i can listen to over and over and over again, and in my opinion the songwriting is far superior to any other album he's done....well then, there is Book of Shadows......

absolutely amazing
This CD is not only filled with emotion it is talent at its greatest.Zakk really knows how to rip that acoustic guitar and adds growling vocals that send chills down my spine. Also the piano adds such a dark mood to the whole CD. Not normal BLS but an absolute masterpiece that I suggest getting.

I have ALL of Zakk's CDs. "Hangover" is just another awesome CD to add to that magnificent collection. As I type this review my ears are basking in the glory of this amazing CD. Zakk is the next Hendrix. He is a spectacular guitarist who plays the guitar with all his soul. Can't wait for the new CD - "Mafia". Thanks Zakk. Keep 'em coming brother.

I love this cd...id say better than either Book of Shadows or the Pride and Glory release (can't compare it to the other BLS stuff because it's a different style).

k its not the same as other bls but that still doesnt mean it rocks it is a great album to just chill to and zakk does a great job evening out the all the acoustic and piano with some really impressive solos, if ur a fan of bls or looking to find a great album that everyone u no will enjoy BUY THIS
