| | Power of Snap! CD Snap Discography of CDs
An oddly presented compilation, the two-disc The Power of Snap!: Original Hits & Remixes, released in 2004 by Radikal, puts the emphasis on the remixes by including them on the first disc of the set, while the second disc covers the basics (familiar mixes of "The Power," "Rhythm Is a Dancer," "Ooops Up," "Mary Had a Little Boy," "Exterminate") and then some. How many people could possibly have interest in the two very different discs? Casual fans won't want the varied assortment of mostly functional remixes, while those who are more into the group will likely have the hits already. Catering to both sides here is detrimental. ~ Andy Kellman

Power of Snap! album
$11.18 Don't mistake the presence of Jay-Z and Beyoncé on Alicia Keys' fourth album as evidence that the singer/songwriter is burrowing into modern R&B -- take it instead as evidence of the rarefied company Keys keeps, her status as a superstar so solidified that the only cameos possible are R&B/hip-hop elite. Superstars are often given leeway to do anything they want, and so it is on The Element of Freedom, where Keys dials back the outward expansion ...

Power of Snap! music CDs
$12.25 Second in a series of three Hi studio albums, O.V. Wright was finally allowed to record for Willie Mitchell's own label, since his former employer, Don Robey, had sold Backbeat to ABC in 1973. As was the case with Al Green, Mitchell had developed a longtime friendship with Wright, overseeing most of his Backbeat single sides and albums. Come the end of the '70s the famous Hi sound started to lose a little of its tightness, but this is fairly overcome by Wright's exceptional vocal qualities. The Bottom Line wasn't crafted with the same session men as it's predecessor. Mostly made up of ballads, the single "I Don't Do Windows" stands apart ...
