It was here that Eno first began to experiment with abstract soundscapes, to employ a greater spatial element and the ethereal synthesizer effects that presaged an entire movement of ambient music. While most of the tracks are instrumental, ... Full Descriptionthe numbers that feature Eno's peculiar, affectless voice and free-associative lyrics seem to blend into the fabric of the album. Superior guest musicians include John Cale, Robert Fripp and Phil Collins. From the brain-bending riff of "Sky-Saw, through the elemental creeping of "Sombre Reptiles;" from Robert Fripp's looping solos in "St. Elmo's Fire" to the dark swirl of "Spirits Drifting," ANOTHER GREEN WORLD creates a superb series of sonic atmospheres that are rhythmic, expansive, strange and beautiful.

Brian Eno Another Green World Songs Another Green World Music Another Green World Music Review Average Rating: (4.4 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews An Art-Rock/ Avante Garde Connoisseur's Wet Dream Nothing I can say will do this album justice but here goes anyway....
First of all, throw away all of your preconceived notions of what music sounded like and what was possible with the studio & instrumental technology of that time (1975). Before I heard this album, I was somewhat convinced that "Darkside Of The Moon" (a timeless masterpiece in it's own right) by Pink Floyd was the quintessential "art-rock" release from that era & head-&-shoulders above the rest of that crop. Not long after discovering "Another Green World", I can safely say that it is as far ahead of "Darkside" as I believed "Darkside" was from the rest.
How this sort of production was achieved back then, I'll never be able to grasp. It makes the majority of the best produced albums of the past decade seem like hack-job slop. Remember ladies & gentlemen --- we're talking 1975!!
The music itself --- certainly not meant for a walk in the park or the daily commute home through rush-hour traffic. I can't say that I'd ever play this record in the presence of a crowd or at a social gathering of any sort either. It is as far from a casual affair as is imaginable.
This is probably the most sombre, intellectual & emotionally reflective set of songs ever released, & to get the full effect, I think it demands a seasoned listener of many different genres & eras of music to be fully appreciated. Something to pick-up just when you think you've "heard it all" & your musical boundaries can be pushed no further. It won't push your boundaries, it will destroy them. Hidden gem from the seventies. Another Green World puts Eno in the same class of subliminal masters as Pink Floyd. Each song is a strange capsule that propels you to another place. Perhaps another green world. If you enjoy sitting in the dark and getting lost in the music, this CD will definitely fill the prescription. Eno proves with this work to be a true experimental genious who was a good decade ahead of his time with the methods of sound technology. It's a shame that he never followed up with a similar offering. Submitted by Brian (New Port Richey, FL. USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Fantastics Pop songs & Electronic music (A & B sides) This album is fantastic. When I listened the Vinyl LP in the 70's, the A-Side are good pop songs (not easy songs), and the B-Side are hypnotic instrumental-electronic music.... Very good disc.... Eno Excellence Yes this is a groundbreaking work giving birth to everything electronica, aw hell, everything that followed. But it also happens to be a great pop album. This is true of all of Eno's song albums. The melodies are deep and hypnotic. They snake into your mind and you find yourself humming them for the rest of your life. The complexity is there to dive into, but there is also a great tune and wicked lyrics to enjoy Submitted by John (LA, CA USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
For fans of this genre, a masterpiece If you like a little art with your music and expect albums to flow together in a stream of beauty and inspiration, then you just can't go wrong with this album.
It's timeless because it doesn't fit any one pattern of musical composition. It just goes where it wants to go and forces you to go along with it. It's a nice ride. Submitted by Manny (Lexington, KY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Another Green World album
$8.49 After working his way through loss and chaos on the brilliant TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT (recorded in 1973, but not released until 1975), Neil Young deftly exorcised any lingering demons with 1974's ON THE BEACH. The album opens with the saunter of the aptly titled "Walk On," followed by the utterly gorgeous, Wurlitzer-tinged "See the Sky about to Rain."
The set also features a trio of scathing songs--"Revolution Blues," "Vampire Blues," and "Ambulance Blues"--that address issues important to Young, both social and personal. It is good to hear Young back with such bite and vitriol, especially after the broken desperation of TONIGHT'S ...
| | Brian Eno Here Come The Warm Jets CD (1973) Remastered
Another Green World CD music
$13.89 By the time Brian Eno left Roxy Music and came to record this masterpiece of a debut in 1973, he already held in his grasp the raw tools to revolutionize popular music. HERE COME THE WARM JETS is bathed in his singular pop-with-a-wink aesthetic and free-associative imagination. Whether on the four-on-the-floor pre-punk stomp of "Needles In The Camel's Eye" or the Spector/VU trad-rock-ism of "Cindy Tells Me," the album displays an unabashed love of quirky, catchy pop. Macabre lyrics often subvert the melodies, a feature fully expressed on "Baby's On Fire," where the singer's cheeky vocals exaggerate the theme's comic ambiguity.
On two quite different pieces--the closing title-track and "On Some Faraway Beach"--a different side of Eno was laid bare. These mid-tempo, mostly wordless sound-paintings construct melancholy scenes out of grandiose, manipulated sounds, and gesture ...
| | Brian Eno Before & After Science CD (1977) Remastered
Another Green World music CDs
$12.55 Eno's last glam-pop album before devoting himself entirely to ambient experimentation, BEFORE AND AFTER SCIENCE showcases two sides of Eno's musical personality. The first half of the disc is characterized by floppy, pop-tinged romps reminiscent of his earlier albums (and heralding later Eno-piloted projects such as the Talking Heads' SPEAKING IN TONGUES). Tunes like "Backwater" and "King's Lead Hat" (a song whose lyrics are reputedly about the ...
| | Brian Eno Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) CD (1974) Remastered
Another Green World songs
$14.59 TAKING TIGER MOUNTAIN (BY STRATEGY), Brian Eno's sophomore solo outing, is a grab bag of freaky, science-fiction-dipped confections. Filled with a battery of innovative, unsettling effects, the album is darker and more complex than HERE COME THE WARM JETS. The artist shows an increasing willingness to experiment with texture, as on "The Great Pretender," whose whirling, oozing keyboard line and synthesized vocals approximate delirium tremens or a hatching hive of maggots, or on "Put A Straw Under Baby," which features the Portsmouth Sinfonia, whose members have no knowledge of their instruments.
Yet Eno's grasp of melody and songcraft is everywhere: on the bouncing, absurdist/philosophical "Burning Airlines (Give You So Much More)," and on straight-out rockers, ...
| | Name Of This Band Is Talking Heads CDs (1982) Bonus Tracks
Another Green World album
$18.19 This live album was originally released as a double LP in 1982, when the Talking Heads were still extremely active. Twenty-two years later, the bonus-laden, two-CD reissue serves as a fascinating in-concert document of the phases the band went through during its first five years. The late-'70s tracks on the first disc show the early version of the band in all its geeky glory, mixing spastic New Wave quirkiness, funk rhythms, and art-school lyrics. It's intriguing to hear the difference between some of the songs' inception and their eventual recorded versions, such as a relatively straightforward "Electricity (Drugs)," which would turn ominous and atmospheric on FEAR OF MUSIC.
The second disc captures the expanded, ...
