Touring in support of TRIBE, the band focused on new material, a testament to the strength of its Sanctuary Records debut. Unplugged interpretations of "My Global Mind" and "Roads to Madness" work wonderfully in their acoustic forms, and fit neatly into the set as well. The TRIBE tour also found Queensryche dusting off the remarkable EMPIRE closer "Anybody Listening?," studiously enhanced by touring guitarist Mike Stone. Stone's impressive vocal harmonies fill the long-absent void left by founding member Chris DeGarmo, proving the newcomer's worth and rounding out another excellent Queensryche performance.

As a band known for studio perfectionism, Queensryche has never impulsively released live recordings. Each concert album has served a pointed task -- LIVECRIME (1991) proved the quintet capable of flawlessly recreating its MINDCRIME suite, while LIVE EVOLUTION (2001) offered a career retrospective up to that point. Released 20 years after the group's first record, THE ART OF LIVE is a sonic snapshot of Queensryche in 2004.

No singing, spoken-word lyrics here. This sucks more than anything that has ever sucked before. A poser is someone calling themselves a SlayerFreak that likes this.

5 stars An excellent showcase of newer material
This live album deserves an honorable mention for the quality of the performances and its song selection. The Art of Live covers Queensryche's newer material, namely the Tribe album, and features some excellent acoustic performances. The band definitely rocks throughout and Tate is in fine form. For those of you who enjoy Queensryche's newer material, this is an excellent addition for your Queensryche collection.

1 star this is not a good album at all
It pains me to say this as I am a HUGE 'ryche fan. This album stinks. The production is poor. Did the guy who mixed this album fall asleep or was he just under the influence?The performances average at best. I have a hard time believing the guys even released this. Definitely not their best. This is their worst. Live Evolution was way better. The Art of Live sucks...pure and simple.

What happened to these guys? I saw the video of this on a free-view. This stinks. If I paid to see this, I'd be pissed. The songs are sung in a mellow, "hippie" style -- almost spoken. This album should be titled, "The Art of How To Get A Life Past Your Prime". -QR Fan since '83
