Roses album
$13.09 Back in March 2004 music magazine Mojo included Withers' fourth album on a list of "67 Lost Albums You Must Own." Whether 'Justments is indeed the stuff of legend remains debatable. Surely no holy grail like the similarly mentioned Cold Fact by Sussex labelmate Sixto Rodriguez, it seems at least unfairly ignored. Nothing here might be as compelling as "Grandma's Hands" or "I Can't Write Left-Handed," but there are plenty of melancholy reflections from a genuine soulman who came across more as a West coast singer/songwriter. Replacing the hired hands of his debut with former employees of Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band proved equally important in shaping Withers' identity. Not only had they been instrumental in creating a landmark with his second album Still Bill, follow-up Live at Carnegie Hall showed how easily they could replicate their unrestrained approach on-stage, performing quite a few tunes which hadn't yet appeared on a studio album. This experience further tightening a natural combination, the band was set for Withers' third studio album. The moody overtones of 'Justments suggest both band and singer might have ...
| | Eminem Relapse: Refill CDs (2009) Includes Bonus Tracks
Roses CD music
$15.59 Eminem's expansion of his 2009 comeback Relapse is cleverly titled Refill, playing off the prescription pill artwork of the original album while offering precisely what it promises: another seven songs in the same vein as the original. Generally, these songs retain much of the carnivalesque horror show vibe of Relapse -- when Slim Shady raps about "Buffalo Bill" it's not about the ...

| | Eminem Slim Shady LP CDs (1999)
Roses songs
$10.45 THE SLIM SHADY LP won the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. "My Name Is" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance.
You'll need a well-developed sense of humor to fully appreciate the debut of Eminem aka Slim Shady. Produced by hip-hop super-producer Dr. Dre and released on Dre's Aftermath Records, the album features an infectious lead single, "My Name Is," a winning mixture of alternative rock and rap. One listen will have you hooked on the chorus, but future plays will reveal the lyrical gymnastics that Eminem kicks out so effortlessly.
Obsessed with fantasies of sex, violence, drugs, and a general depraved indifference to life itself, Eminem's alter ego, Slim Shady, is constantly involved in a battle of good vs. evil leavened by a high degree of irony. Dre even drops in on an mind-blowing cameo playing the shoulder angel on "Guilty Conscience" to Eminem's devil. You'll need a few listens to ...

| | Dr Dre Chronic CD (1992) Parental Advisory
Roses CD music
$14.05 A great hip-hop album relies on a balance of two components: lyrical skill and correctly-matched production. Often they can be found in conflict, undermining one another; but when an artist masters both techniques, the results can be incredibly rewarding. On his solo debut THE CHRONIC, Dr. Dre not only discovered this balance but took it to the next level, making gangsta funk a multi-platinum commodity and changing the face of rap forever.
Dre (nee Andre Young) began his musical career with the World Class Wreckin' Cru, but came to prominence as one of the founding members of hip-hop's first super-group, N.W.A. By the time of THE CHRONIC's release, he had already returned to the limelight with a slammin' single, "Deep Cover," on which he shared the stage with a previously unknown rapper named Snoop Doggy Dogg. It was Snoop's idiosyncratic flow that lay behind Dre's Funkadelicized G-Funk and powered THE CHRONIC.
Dre is the West Coast's king of hard-core production, but ...

"Nobody from Newport News has made it in the music business and ABK is going to change that," Gracie states defiantly." "People from Bad News have a different story to tell."After a 1994 stint in jail, Gracie decided to become more serious about his music. "I saw artists like Redman and Wu Tang doing their thing," he says. "That just sparked something in me to go for my dreams."Now, on the verge of certain stardom, Grace, as he's known by his friends, is now not only an artist, but the President and CEO of ABK Music and Media. | | Sarah Nixey Strangelove - Single CD (2006) (Import)
Roses album
$11.59 "This seemingly menacing track is a pure pop confection with a frothy synth arrangement and Nixey's totally irresistible disco chic vocals in proper Queen's English...Get ready for Sarah Nixey. A stylish pop force to be reckoned with." arjanwrites Sarah Nixey is best known as the singer in Black Box Recorder. Whilst working as a backing vocalist for the folk band Balloon, Nixey stumbled upon the reprobates John Moore (ex Jesus & Mary Chain drummer) and Luke Haines (ex The Auteurs frontman), also in the bands line up at that time. Moore and Haines approached Nixey with an idea for a band, writing a letter promising to make her famous. Given their lack of previous chart success, Nixey was amused and immediately took up their offer. The enigmatic three piece appeared at the start of 1998 and have released four massively acclaimed albums to date. Their debut, brutish and bleak, England Made Me spawned the single Child Psychology, banned from national radio because it contained the chorus "Life is unfair/kill ...
