| | Ventures Knock Me Out CD - Import Ventures Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
A unqiue remaster of the popular American surf rock group's successful release. 2004, Japanese import.
The most successful of all instrumental combos helped their cause in no small measure by cutting a slew of trendy albums like this one. As with many pop acts during the '60s, the Ventures covered the obligatory Beatles tune along with many other hits from the era. Knock Me Out finds the surf music legends tackling mid-'60s classics like the Zombies' "She's Not There," the Everly Brothers' "Gone, Gone, Gone," and Lennon and McCartney's "I Feel Fine." As expected, the Ventures' reverb-drenched sound lends itself nicely to the album's paisley mod mix. Other highlights include four originals by the band and a take on Jackie DeShannon's "When You Walk Into the Room." ~ Stephen Cook
Japanese 24-bit remastered reissue of 1965 album, packaged in a miniature LP gatefold sleeve, features 24 tracks, 12 in stereo & 12 in mono. Toshiba-EMI. 2004.

Knock Me Out album
$18.74 Whereas Alice Cooper's first two studio albums, 1969's PRETTIES FOR YOU and 1970's EASY ACTION, tended more towards the trippy excesses of the hippie era, their next one, 1971's LOVE IT TO DEATH introduced the world to the heavy sound that Cooper would soon be taking to the top. With the invaluable production assistance of future Pink Floyd/Lou Reed cohort Bob Ezrin, LOVE IT TO DEATH proved Alice Cooper's first truly great album, and served as their commercial breakthrough.

| | Joe Walsh Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get CD (1973) Gold
Knock Me Out CD music
$18.74 "Rocky Mountain Way," the tune that opens Joe Walsh's sophomore release (and remains one of his best-known songs), is a textbook example of Walsh's strengths. The song is driven by a slinky hard rock groove that boasts crunchy, distorted guitars, barrelhouse piano, wiry solos, and a catchy, singalong chorus--proving Walsh's penchant for mixing rock elements and radio-ready accessibility with a sense of wit and fun. The rest of SMOKER YOU DRINK, PLAYER YOU GET follows suit, with the mid-tempo rock ballad "Bookends," ...

| | The Very Best Of Enya CDs (2009) With DVD
Knock Me Out songs
$21.00 Comprised of 18 tracks culled from the singer/composer's first three decades, The Very Best of Enya was pieced together by the artist herself, along with longtime collaborators Nicky and Roma Ryan. Luckily, the trio seems enamored by most of the same songs that the general public is, resulting in one of those rare "greatest-hits" collections that goes deep without depriving the listener of the essentials. With tunes like "Orinoco Flow," "Caribbean Blue," and "Book of Days" in the pot and out of the way, it's easier to appreciate hidden gems like "Cursum Perficio," "Boadicea," "Trains and Winter Rains," and "Anywhere Is." Also notable is the inclusion of "May It Be" and a previously unreleased version of "Aníron (I Desire)," both of which originally appeared on the soundtrack for the first chapter of Peter Jackson's beloved Lord of the Rings trilogy. ~ James Christopher Monger
