For those long-time Rush fans who've always enjoyed the group's early, pre-2112 straight-ahead hard rock, FEEDBACK will come as a welcome diversion from the Canadian trio's later, much more complex work. An album of 1960s-era cover tunes that were inspirational to the band members early in their careers, the disc brings Rush back to basics, stripping away the synthesizers, effects-laden guitar, and percussion triggers, leaving only guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. From the opening notes of "Summertime Blues" (seemingly inspired equally by the Blue Cheer and Who LIVE AT LEEDS versions), the band's love of these songs is obvious; this is the unadulterated sound of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart having fun rocking out. Wisely, Rush never strays too far from the original arrangements, which allows the record to evoke the feeling of stumbling onto the world's greatest classic-rock bar band.
Rush: Geddy Lee (vocals, bass guitar); Alex Lifeson (guitar); Neil Peart (drums).
Liner Note Author: Neil Peart.

RUSH became the musical monsters that they did because the music from their collective youths inspired them or does that make too much sense?!?!
You can hear the love and passion they had for that long gone era on every one of the tracks on this CD.
Go watch "American Idol" like everyone else and leave music to musicians like RUSH! Geddy, Alex & Neil are the Gods! Submitted by dbotero (NYC, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Excellent Work Since I have not heard most of the orignal songs, it is an excellent Rush performance. I continue to enjoy their work even though this CD includes few songs. Submitted by frailejon87 (Caracas, Venezuela) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

SUPERB COVERS COLLECTION This is a phenomenal collection from Rush. All 8 tracks are covers of songs made famous in the '60s, and are tracks which members of Rush grew up listening to, and playing, in early bands before the current line-up of Rush got together. Alex's guitar, Geddy's vocals and bass and (of course!) Neil's drumming are all fantastic and the whole CD sounds fantastic. Any Rush fan will love this but I reckon its appeal will attract a lot of fans of "classic" rock. Rush make these songs sound tremendous and not dated. Utterly recommended! Interesting This is Rush, but then again it is not. This was an interesting project for the band. I would say that this is a filler project. This is just something to hold us over until the next real Rush CD appears. The playing is good. They do a very good job of covering the material, and still while they do that, Rush still seeps through. You can't beat the price. $22.99 RUSH IN RIO is a unique 3-CD document that features an entire set recorded at a Rio de Janeiro show in November 2002 that was also the last date on the Vapor Trails international tour. Originally recorded for the Rush concert video/DVD of the same name, this collection is raw around the edges but still manages to capture the live might of this critically underrated progressive rock power trio. Playing South America for the first time, the Canadian ...

| | Samantha Jones Surrounded By A Ray Of Sunshine: The Ua Recordings CD (2000) (Import) United Kingdom
Feedback CD music
$18.39 This has 20 tracks from her 1964-68 stint with United Artists, concentrating on the ten or so singles she made during that era, with a few LP cuts, a previously unreleased 1964 version of "As Long As You're Happy" (more famous as done by Sandie Shaw), and a rare Ford Cars promotional single. Jones was an okay but not great singer. These sides, some of them anyway, are most noteworthy for the inventive pop/rock-soul-orchestral production, particularly those by Charles Blackwell, who also handled Francoise Hardy and P.J. Proby during the era. Her 1964 debut single, "It's All Because of You," is stunning and strange for the time with its ghostly echoing percussive rattles, ominous melody, and brilliant orchestration; it's like Cilla Black's "You're My World" with more ambition. Francoise Hardy fans should note that the 1965 cuts "Don't Come Any Closer" and "Just Call and I'll Be There" are the English originals of tunes subsequently covered by Hardy in French (as "Non Ce N'est Pas Un Reve," and "Le Temps Des Souvenirs" respectively). The arrangements of ...
