Appearing three years after Mercury's comprehensive collection Fire in Your Eyes: Greatest Hits, BMG Heritage's 2004 release Ultimate Survivor edges out that previous collection for the title of the best Survivor compilation yet assembled. Why? Because the song selection and sequencing are sharper, developing a real momentum over its 18 songs, and it's also better presented, with strong liner notes and muscular remastering. Where the Mercury collection sometimes felt padded toward its end, as it emphasized some latter-day material, this focuses on the group's '80s heyday so much that it includes the original version of "Rockin' into the Night," a song Survivor leader Frankie Sullivan and his songwriting partner, Jim Peterik, gave to .38 Special, and their version is every bit as good as that group of wild-eyed Southern boys. Little touches like these make Ultimate Survivor live up to its title. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Ultimate Survivor Music Review Average Rating: (4.1 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews its all about the EYE OF THE TIGER... There was a time when I ate, drank, slept and dreamt ROCKY and EYE OF THE TIGER was next in line. This was a quite a good collection even though I saw a few reviews mentioning that a couple of good tracks are missing but it was ok cos the essentials were present. A must have if you are a fan of the 80’s Arena rock scene and of course if you are a diehard fan of ROCKY. Submitted by Sid H. (Kandy, SL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A Great Disc From Survivor!! I would have to say that I am very impressed by this CD!! The remasterd sound quality is outstanding. "Eye of the Tiger" has never sounded better here. Other excellent tracks include
"Didn't Know It Was Love" and "Rebel Girl". Also, "Across the Miles" is a pleasant surprise. One flaw, however, is the omition once again of "Ever Since the World Began". How does the band (or record company) not realize how much of a hit this song was for Survivor fans. Thank God for CD recorders...I simply dumped "Caught In the Game" & replaced it with "Ever Since the World Began". NOW I have the Ultimate Survivor CD!! Next time, give "World Began" it's just due, this song will always be my favorite. This IS, otherwise, a GREAT CD!!

Good stuff What can i say? All the hits are here. I just wished a couple more tracks from Eye Of The Tiger were there also. Good buy anyway! Submitted by Mark (Ft. Worth, Texas) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

BEST COLLECTION for someone just getting into SURVIVOR then this is for you. re-mastering rocks! there were really 2 different bands. The DAVE BICKLER era had more rockin' tunes and FRANKIE SULLIVAN played harder. The JAMI JAMISON era had songs more accustomed for his vocal range. JIMI had a better voice but the music was more subdued even though VITAL SIGNS was huge. JIMI AND FRANKIE would eventually put out a rockin'and perhaps their best album with TOO HOT TO SLEEP. By 1993, when Bryan Adams released his first collection of greatest hits, he had enjoyed 12 years in the music business during a span that had seen hot trends like new wave and late '80s hair metal fall by the wayside. Adams managed to stay popular by sticking ...

Ultimate Survivor songs
$9.69 Nights Are Forever was the breakthrough album for Dan Seals and John Coley after some sincere and excellent work on A&M Records in the early '70s. Two of their biggest hits were the title track and the beautiful "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight." Those songs are a good indication of the fine performances this 1976 album contains. The duo's originals like "Long Way Home" and the Dan Fogelberg-ish "Westward Wind" could have been hits as well displaying superb musicianship and delicate vocals. This album is very much a companion piece to the Parker McGee album recorded around the same time, on the same label, with pretty much the same musicians. Producer Kyle Lehning has the sounds so similar a survey panel would probably not be able to figure out which song came from which album. What Nights Are Forever has that the Parker McGee album does not is "There'll Never Be Another For Me," a song co-written by Parker McGee, England Dan, and John Ford Coley -- it is ...
| | England Dan Some Things Don't Come Easy CD (1978)
Ultimate Survivor album
$9.69 If Dowdy Ferry Road was their bleak moment in song, Some Things Don't Come Easy is the calm before the storm, a port prior to the schizophrenia that was Dr. Heckyll and Mr. Jive. Wandering songs like "Who's Lonely Now" are indicative of this album, and it is only one of two titles the singers pen together. They look alike on the smiling, happy airbrushed front cover, but you ...

| | Los Rieleros Del Norte Para Ti... Nuestra Historia CDs (2006)
Ultimate Survivor songs
$8.45 In 2006, Fonovisa launched its ambitious Para Ti... Mi Historia/Para Ti... Nuestra Historia (For You...My Story/For You...Our Story) series, thoughtfully assembling an abundance of two-CD sets that contained both familiar recordings by Fonovisa artists and newly recorded spoken introductions to those songs by the artists. The Historia sets were essentially best-ofs, but the spoken introductions gave them a much more collector-friendly, biographical, anthology-like approach than the type of basic no-frills budget CDs that are quite prevalent in the regional Mexican market -- and the fact that the introductions were always en español made them inappropriate for the non-Spanish-speaking listener who has only a casual ...
