like this CD. The music is heavy, but
melodic, and the vocalist is great. It's
interesting that the reviews I read about it beforehand could only focus on the fact that it wasn't new, cutting-edge metal. That means it doesn't have any rap/hip-hop influences in it. So? I'm still not convinced that everything that's new is better. That's an attitude you get from people who play 'music critic' for a living. This is a great CD. Ignore anything negative you may read and buy it. Submitted by dmusselm (Atlanta,GA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Buy this CD! This is classic metal, fresh and alive today as 2005 approaches! True metal is alive and well, you just have to dig a little deeper to find it, it's there and well worth the effort! This CD is amazing in that is definitely sounds like traditional metal but manages to capture a fresh vibe at the same time. Sure, you will hear obvious and familiar sounds but that’s what make this recording come to life AND will stand the test of time. Great mix of tunes and styles! Not fond of the CD cover, but I don't listen to that... So anyway, this CD is like having a greatest hits package from a new band, except all the sounds ARE new! Buy it, and turn it up! Classic Metal with brilliant singer Very impressed with this. If you like Dio, Priest, Halford (at their best)...then this CD is definately for you. Track 3 is a track that would fit easily on Holy Diver! I say that it in all reverence to the Dio classic! Who's John West, the singer? Never heard of him before. What a voice. Almost...Dio meets Dickinson meets Halford. I kid you not!
Clean, crisp modern metal production makes this hard to take off my CD player right now. If you like Heavy Metal, you'll like this. Submitted by bruno (catford, london, uk) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A feast o' metal This album will appeal to any fan of "true" metal. These guys keep the classic sound alive and have some great riffs. The title track and Firefighter are powerhouses. BANG THY HEAD \^^/ Submitted by me (METALFOREVER, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Old school, but great This CD is definitely "old school" sounding like Dio in some places, but that doesn't mean it isn't good. In fact quite the opposite. John West's vocals are great, although reminiscent of someone else. Feinstein's riffs are pretty basic, but never boring. If you like you Dio, Priest, maybe The Rods, it's worth the buy! $10.39 It took eight years, but the trilogy that started with 1997's ACCIDENT OF BIRTH and continued with 1998's THE CHEMICAL WEDDING is finally complete with the release of 2005's TYRANNY OF SOULS. Dickinson once again collaborates with guitarist and producer Roy Z, with whom he has an almost telepathic relationship. That comes in handy when writing an album together while thousands ...

$16.79 One of the bands that not only dominated the charts for most of the 80s, but they also typified the type of music that will be looked back on as 'the sound of the 80s'. Their sometimes Germanic electronic pop became softer on this album. They were becoming more of a band, and they were 'rockin', just a little. Keyboards still dominated but the melody seemed less regimented. Vocalist Dave Gahan excelled, as his voice grew in power. In a year or two they would become stadium rock stars, and change forever. The reissued ...

This mix gives a new sound that most listeners will appreciate and gives an introduction to the Capeverdean music.Caboverdianismo means music from Cape Verde in movement. The album Caboverdianismo is dedicated to his uncle Duca de Nhô Pitra (Pedro Doroteia Morais Júnior) who inspired and stimulated him to go into music. Some icons of Capeverdean musicians has participated on this cd like Paulino Vieira, Boy Gé Mendes and the late LuÃs Morais, who inspired Carlos to develop the Capeverdean music, in other words to put his ‘Caboverdianismo’ in practice.BIOGRAPHYCarlos Matos was born in 1972 in Rotterdam and comes from a musical family. His late uncle Pedro (aka Duca d’Nhô Pitra) Morais noticed his interest in music at a very young age. At that time his toys existed, mainly from music instruments. When he was 9 years old he went to the Rotterdams music school where he studied Hammond organ. During the period on the music school (1981-1990) he starting performing during the national child day (Dia das crianças), on weddings and receptions. In the meantime Carlos was searching for a new challenge with synthesizers. In 1991 he became a member and later the musical leader of the band called ‘Koladance’, on of the remarkable bands of this generation. Their album ‘Koladance’ became album of the year. Because of this success they were invited to perform during the well-known festival in Mindelo, Cape Verde ‘Baia das Gatas’.After highschool Carlos did admission examination to the Conservatory in Rotterdam for piano and he was allowed. Although he had had never had pianolessons, he chose this instrument because it offered more musical possibilities. He got lessons from Jan-Laurens Hartong, well-known bandleader of the group ‘Nueva Manteca’.In 1993, he became a member and arranger of the band Rabelados. This group achieved enormous successes in France, Switzerland, Portugal, Cape Verde and the United States. Rabelados was invited by the capeverdean Ministry of Culture for an exclusive concert during the annual parliament meeting. Also the TACV (Cabo Verde Airlines) invited them on the occasion for their 35th year of existence of this plane company. At the Gamboa festival in 1995 their 2nd album ‘Sukuru ' was exclaimed to ‘Best album of the year 1995’.Besides on stage Carlos is envolved with producing and arranging for albums like: ‘Mudança’ (Ney Machado), ‘Sururu’ (Boy Gé Mendes), ‘Pilon Pilon’ ...
