As if its over-the-top cover artwork (featuring a demonic figure as frightening as it is comical) wasn't "metallic" enough, the CD booklet of Feinstein's Third Wish shows leather-draped guitarist David "Rock" Feinstein striking a number of amusing poses that make him look like a cross between Ronnie James Dio (his cousin, actually!) and eccentric Meat Loaf collaborator Jim Steinman! Of course, anyone familiar with the guitarist's former exploits as leader of New York City metal institution the Rods (and, earlier still, guitarist for Dio's first major hard rock band, Elf) will be well aware of his very "unmetallic" and oftentimes self-effacing sense of humor -- not to mention explain his decision to utilize his remarkably nerdy last name for this band. Third Wish is his first solo outing, after all, and coming as it does with the blessing of longtime Manowar metal soldier (and executive producer) Joey DeMaio, one should know exactly what to expect. Except, perhaps, surprisingly high-grade heavy metal -- as instantly familiar as it is timeless -- co-authored by Feinstein and guesting Royal Hunt vocalist John West. Together, the duo has crafted ten energetic and majestic heavy metal anthems (plus Feinstein's closing instrumental "Inferno") harking back to the style's 1980s commercial heyday. Among these, "Rebelution," "Live to Ride, Ride to Live," and the title track represent excellent highlights, and it's not at all surprising to recognize traces of metal glories past in additional favorites "Streaming Star" and "Far Beyond" (vintage Judas Priest and Dio, respectively). All in all, Feinstein help make nostalgia respectable and fun with Third Wish. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
Energetic, electrifying, immortal - just some of the words used to describe Magic Circle Music recording artists, Feinstein! With the release of the album "Third Wish," a new era of "slash and burn" is certain to ignite for the man behind the name David "Rock" Feinstein!

Feinstein Third Wish Songs Third Wish Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews This Is HEAVY METAL !! Wow! I really can't believe how much I
like this CD. The music is heavy, but
melodic, and the vocalist is great. It's
interesting that the reviews I read about it beforehand could only focus on the fact that it wasn't new, cutting-edge metal. That means it doesn't have any rap/hip-hop influences in it. So? I'm still not convinced that everything that's new is better. That's an attitude you get from people who play 'music critic' for a living. This is a great CD. Ignore anything negative you may read and buy it. Submitted by dmusselm (Atlanta,GA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Buy this CD! This is classic metal, fresh and alive today as 2005 approaches! True metal is alive and well, you just have to dig a little deeper to find it, it's there and well worth the effort! This CD is amazing in that is definitely sounds like traditional metal but manages to capture a fresh vibe at the same time. Sure, you will hear obvious and familiar sounds but that’s what make this recording come to life AND will stand the test of time. Great mix of tunes and styles! Not fond of the CD cover, but I don't listen to that... So anyway, this CD is like having a greatest hits package from a new band, except all the sounds ARE new! Buy it, and turn it up! Classic Metal with brilliant singer Very impressed with this. If you like Dio, Priest, Halford (at their best)...then this CD is definately for you. Track 3 is a track that would fit easily on Holy Diver! I say that it in all reverence to the Dio classic! Who's John West, the singer? Never heard of him before. What a voice. Almost...Dio meets Dickinson meets Halford. I kid you not!
Clean, crisp modern metal production makes this hard to take off my CD player right now. If you like Heavy Metal, you'll like this. Submitted by bruno (catford, london, uk) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A feast o' metal This album will appeal to any fan of "true" metal. These guys keep the classic sound alive and have some great riffs. The title track and Firefighter are powerhouses. BANG THY HEAD \^^/ Submitted by me (METALFOREVER, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Old school, but great This CD is definitely "old school" sounding like Dio in some places, but that doesn't mean it isn't good. In fact quite the opposite. John West's vocals are great, although reminiscent of someone else. Feinstein's riffs are pretty basic, but never boring. If you like you Dio, Priest, maybe The Rods, it's worth the buy! $14.35 Dream Evil's third album, Book of Heavy Metal, is a brazen tribute to this always controversial genre -- as likely to invoke blind devotion from its fans as it does outright dismissal from its antagonists.
