Unique recording
The album is a uniquely beautiful and magical experience for those capable of moving in mind and spirit beyond the mundane.Like all truly great creative works it is about the inspiration of possibilities rather than the entrenchment of realities.'Precious' and fanciful yes, but what is wrong with that! God save us from Kylies and Madonnas. We'd all be Ga-Ga!

Sallys best album....
Probably Sallys best album. She has a beatiful voice, and the lyrics inspired by Tolkien makes this really great.

One of My Most Favorite Albums
I never write reviews. But I just had to this time since this is one of my favorite albums of all time. Sally's songs are rich, melodic, utilize a wide range of instruments, and her mystical lyrics (some based on Tolkien's Lord of the Rings) are very enjoyable. Back in the 70's, being a huge fan of her brother Mike Oldfield, when I first came across this album I was simply curious. I purchased "Water Bearer" (33rpm vinyl) and was instantly hooked. Since then I've repurchased it as a CD along with most of Sally's other albums. Talent runs heavily in that family. Water Bearer is Sally's best album (in my opinion) and although I've probably listened to it a thousand times, I never get tired of it. "Playing in the Flame" would be my second favorite album of hers.

Water Bearer: Incredible
If you close your eyes when you listen to this album, you can find yourself in a misty wood, or in an ancient frozen peak, lonely in a waste land, in a secolar forest where you can find elves and tolkenian characters from "The Lord Of The Rings" or "The Silmarillion". You can see clear skies, crystal rivers, wild animals that walk lonely on a high mountain, you can hear birds sing, or you can feel the fantastic sensation of a cool breeze from the sea. I usually listen to Water Bearer when I go to my favourite mountains near my city (Palermo, Sicily): Madonie mountains are perfect set to this music. And when I listen my cd I imagine that Sally's crystal voice runs through peak, mountains, forests, rivers...
