| | Seething Brunswicks Saga & Adventures Of Spain & Nowhere CD (2006)
Infernal
$10.09 This is Psychedelic-world-funk-lounge band the Seething Brunswicks second EP-The Saga and Adventures of Spain and Nowhere. Any kind of music in the world is grist for The Seething Brunswicks, the band that takes sounds from around the globe and whips them into a compelling new genre. The San Francisco Bay Area combo performs an intriguing blend of electronic and electric instrumental music, featuring vocals inspired by both Tuvan throat-singing and rhythm and blues. The music is influenced by traditional and contemporary music from around the world. Beats and textures from jazz, rock, funk and electronica meld with the exotic sonorities of African, Indian and Middle Eastern music in the Brunswicks' original compositions. The Seething Brunswicks features Neal Cronin on guitar and vocalization with Mike "064" Freeman on guitar. 064 also uses electric and electronic instruments and computer-controlled samples to create a rhythmic foundation for the group. Cronin's unique vocal style was honed by his work with Ohana, an acapella group performing harmonic, improvisational and traditional music. By eschewing lyrics the band keeps the listener focused on the lush musical textures and the duo's lucid guitar interplay. Cronin's wide-ranging experience currently includes leading and fronting StepinLight, a world fusion band that performs modern, original compositions influenced my music from all over the world, as well as former trombonist for stage and symphonic bands and orchestras. Cronin also continues to perform world music as a solo artist, and with a variety of other players. He hosts World Beat parties at cafes and clubs throughout the Bay Area.064 played with (the real) Process, a band that performed a heady mélange of rock, post-industrial funk, fake ethnic, experimental and improvised music. He also played guitar with the space jam band Neurohumors. He played guitar and composed for the post-punk band the Artichokes and created music and wrote for the political comedy group the Plutonium Players. He has recorded extensively, created several multi-media performance spectacles and performed in a variety of Bay Area rock clubs.
