Papa Roach's 2002 effort, LOVEHATETRAGEDY, didn't quite live up to the success of its major-label predecessor, but the importance of this outing was the band's decision to go beyond its rap-rock origins. GETTING AWAY WITH MURDER showcases the quartet's further creative growth, as the playing and writing have only gotten more potent. Frontman Jacoby Shaddix continues to impress as a vocalist who's gone from shouting his thoughts to conveying more sophisticated subject matter. The biggest difference can be seen in Shaddix's shift from contemplating his dead dog on the last album to here ranting about a deceptive government motivated by greed and power ("Tyranny of Normality"). Just as effective is the anthemic "Blanket of Fear," with its strident denouncement of overwhelming paranoia in an age of war and terrorism. Throughout it all, guitarist Jerry Horton lays down brontosaurus-sized riffs that prove that Papa Roach still has plenty of aggression to fuel its brand of nu-metal.
Papa Roach: Jerry Horton (vocals, guitar); Jacoby Shaddix (vocals); Tobin Esperance (guitar, bass instrument, background vocals); Dave Buckner (drums, background vocals).

Getting Away With Murder CD music
$24.45 Includes liner notes by Mike Hodges, Paul Fishman, and Charlie Galloway.
Excepting only the work of the great Lalo Schifrin, Roy Budd's Get Carter was the best theme in the lucrative world of spy/gangster/heist soundtracks from the late '60s and early '70s. Underpinning the tense strength of director Mike Hodges' film about a hit man turned avenging angel, the film's main theme ("Carter Takes a Train") is a paranoid, hallucinatory title that deftly played up the menace of Michael Caine's ...

$20.99 | | Frank Sinatra Songs From The Heart CD (2007)
Getting Away With Murder CD music
$10.95 Frank Sinatra never stopped singing love songs; arguably, it was what he did best. From the start of his career, Sinatra positioned himself as a singer of romantic songs, and he was believable in the role -- who could fail to fall to that voice? The holders of Sinatra's other major-label output -- Sony and Warner Bros. -- have previously released collections of the key love songs Sinatra recorded for them, so it's surprising that it took Capitol this long because many of his greatest romantic ballads and up-tempo swingers were the product of his tenure with that label (a good many of them were found on 1955's momentous Songs for Swingin' Lovers! album). Romance could easily have been built around that album alone, but only three of its songs are here; wisely, the compilers chose judiciously from Sinatra's other '50s and early-'60s sides for the label as well, including such essentials as "Day by Day," "As Time Goes By," ...
