On LET IT ENFOLD YOU, Senses Fail delivers a potent combination of tuneful pop-punk and thrashing emo-core that should appeal to fans of both Sum 41 and New Found Glory. The factor that differentiates the New Jersey quintet from many of its peers, however, is the band's uncommonly intelligent lyrics. Frontman/main songwriter Buddy Nielsen foregoes the lost-love-and-broken-hearts themes typical of most emo in favor of literary references and existential questions. In fact, inspirations for the songs include Hindu religious texts, Charles Bukowski, Joseph Campbell, and Taoist philosophy. Lest listeners' fear that this is music more suited to a library than the mosh pit, the group swathes the words in an energetic bed of aggressive, distorted guitars, soaring harmony vocals, and stop-start rhythms. An unusual take on the genre, LET IT ENFOLD YOU will rock fans' ears while engaging their minds.
Senses Fail has decided that the long, winding road is the better route to By supporting their first EP (From The Depths of Dreams)for over 18 months, the band has sold over 100,000 copies of that release. "Let It Enfold You",their first full-length album, was recorded in the summer of 2003.Some label complications put the record fans. The band has been performing the songs live since they were recorded, so many of the fans are already familiar with these tracks. My favorite band of the year. I heard this album as far back as April 2004. It wasn't fully mastered, but I still liked the album. It continued to grow even more on me as the months proceeded. It was greats songs like "you're cute..", "buried a lie", "rums for drinking..." to name a few. I love this CD from beginning to end. Some people may not be fans, but judge for yourself, and check them out before you judge. Submitted by eldude9482 (Whittier, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Not my thing This was the first album i downloaded from Senses Fail. I saw them at Taste Of Chaos in Australia and they were good so i thought i would give them a go. It seems this band wears its influence a bit too prominently, most of the songs show recycles guitar riffs, cheesy hooks and it showed me that this was a band that were trying to find their sound. The lead singer Buddy sounded like his voice needed alot of work. The guitars were predictable and cheesy. If you want to hear more mature, ballsier Senses Fail pick up Still Searching.
