With his previous two records, Assemblage 23's Tom Shear has proven to be one of the most consistent artists in EBM. Though it varies little from Defiance and is just a notch below Failure in terms of impact, Storm can certainly stand on its own. The lyrics are just as powerful as anything Shear has written and, set to cosmic synth and propulsive dance beats, they create an emotional tidal wave of pain and loss. The encompassing "Human" begins the album with the words "There have been times throughout my life when I fell so far/I thought I'd never stand again/I watched my dreams depart." From there, Storm doesn't let up. Shear sometimes recycles his own phrases ("endless loop," "chaos rains"), but it's hardly an issue when the music is this strong. And though "Let the Wind Erase Me" is the first single, any of these ten tracks are just as worthy of that honor. "I feel insignificant, never have I ever felt so small," Shear bellows in "Infinite." This A23 release sounds like a cross between Depeche Mode, Camouflage and Cause & Effect with more a trance beat. If you like those bands, you will enjoy this CD. Not must diversity track-to-track though. I especially enjoy Track #3.

I just got this CD a few weeks ago and I gave it a long chance to grow on me. I love all of his other CD's and all the many remixes but this one? It just seems rushed and not very well put together. Maybe it's because I prefer A23's darker stuff but this one seemed more like elevator music to me.
Not what I would have expected from and artist who up till now seemed to be growing.

I can dig it
I really enjoyed this album.it's not quite as good as "Defiance" or "Failure",but it has its moments.Standout tracks would have to be "Skin","You haven't earned it" and "30kft".I wouldn't listen to "30kft",on a cross-country flight either.but Tom really knows how to make great music.Recommended

I am a fairly new Assemblage 23 fan, but I have to say this cd has become one of my favorites. I hear it is Tom Shear's best cd so far and I would have to agree. Storm is more upbeat with a positive spin that really leaves you thinking. I love listening to this guys lyrics. Very deep and thought provoking. Stop reading this cd and go buy it!

Able to be listened to.
I give it a 3 and a half for real but I kinda can't give the half points but anyways, I loved the crap out of Defiance and I was looking forward to this cd surpassing it..fat chance, it's a step down for them but it's still pretty good. Check out Human, Let the Wind Erase Me, You Haven't Earned It, and 30kft(this is one of the most depressing songs I've ever heard). I'd suggest you all try out Defiance, much better. Laters.
