| | Brian Mcknight Evolution Of A Man CD (2009)
Doggy Style
$14.04 Brian McKnight's lone set of non-Christmas material for Warner Bros., 2006's TEN, peaked exactly where his previous six proper albums topped out (within the Top Five of Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop chart), yet he finds himself on E1 (formerly Koch) for EVOLUTION OF A MAN. Though he has written and produced plenty of his own material in the past, he did it all on this one, and presumably provided much of its instrumentation. It's a set that is predominantly slow, sparse, and intimate. Most of the album's last two-thirds offers familiar McKnight fare -- sensitive, soothing backdrops that are at least comforting when not uplifting. Earlier on, as well as in a couple instances deeper into the album, McKnight takes some risks with tracks that contain little more than pattering percussion and twinkling keyboards; here, ...
| | Drake So Far Gone CD (2009)
Doggy Style
$9.15 No doubt about it, Drake blew up big time in 2009. The one-time TV actor (from DEGRASSI HIGH: THE NEXT GENERATION) hooked up with Lil Wayne a couple years previously, worked the mixtape and collabo circuit for a spell and then suddenly hit with the song "Best I Ever Had." The song was taken from the SO FAR GONE mixtape and became the top summer jam of 2009. After a ferocious bidding war, Drake ended up signing with Universal Motown (while keeping his affiliation with Weezy's Young Money and Cash Money intact) and was officially introduced via the SO FAR GONE EP. The release included seven tracks from the mixtape and gave undeniable proof that the hype and noise surrounding the rapper were all justified. The productions (courtesy of members of Drake's Toronto-based crew) are nuanced and powerful, the hooks are huge and Drake has lyrical skills ...

| | Michael Jackson: Dangerous - The Short Films DVD (1993) Subtitled
Doggy Style
$9.69 After pioneering the epic music video with his ground breaking short movies for "Thriller," "Bad" (directed by the acclaimed feature auteur Michael Jackson,) and others, the King of Pop's next project was awaited with great expectations. And Jackson, as always, managed to meet these with his album, "Dangerous," for which he continued his pattern of making innovative, trend-setting videos. DANGEROUS is a home video which includes the uncut versions of these videos -- from the crazy morphing effects of "Black and White" to the exotic royalty of "Remember The Time."
In addition, the previously unseen short film "Gone Too Soon" plus "Who Is It," which has never been released ...
| | Best Of Kansas CD (1984)
Doggy Style
$6.75 This 1999 reissue contains three bonus tracks not included on the original release.
Between the early 1970s and early '80s, Kansas made a long musical journey, starting out as complex prog-rock merchants, deeply indebted to the technically dazzling, epic works of Yes, Genesis, and Emerson, Lake & Palmer. A decade on, the band had trimmed its sound to the bare bones, pounding out relatively straightforward, hard-edged AOR. THE BEST OF KANSAS ably illustrates how Kansas got from one extreme to the other. "The Wall" and "Closet Chronicles," for instance, illustrate the proggier side of the group, unafraid to experiment. The ideal middle ground occupied by the churning rocker "Carry On Wayward Son" and the peppy, melodic "Point of Know Return" represents the commercial and artistic apex of the band. The relentless, pile-driver attack of the early-'80s hit "Fight Fire with Fire" finds the former art-rockers closer in spirit to Def Leppard than to King Crimson. You couldn't ask for more variety or a more comprehensive selection from a single-disc collection than what's provided by THE BEST OF KANSAS.
Recorded between 1975 & 1984.
Digitally remastered ...

| | Jon Sarta Boogie Woogie Salad CD (2003)
Doggy Style
$17.09 The Artist:Jon Sarta' playing is a mix of Classical, 70's Rock, Stride, Ragtime, Gospel, Jazz and Boogie Woogie. Originally from Ridgewood, New Jersey, he studied Classical music during High School under L.G. Wray from the Julliard School of Music. He is a graduate of Farleigh Dickinson University and also did two years of post graduate work at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. He currently performs solo at the Crowne Plaza Airport Hotel in Orlando, FL, in additional to regular performances at Walt Disney World. The CD:Boogie Woogie Salad is a creation that has evolved over the last 4 years. It was time to get it out, warts and all. All songs are first or second takes. No overdubs or creative editing. Just like the old timers, whatever came out came out. If the track had a great groove and there were a couple of clams, they were left in. No cheating. Hope you enjoy it. This project is dedicated to my father, Dick Sarta, who gave me a great appreciation for the masters of Boogie Woogie; Albert Ammons, Meade Lux Lewis, Pete Johnson, Pine Top, and Jimmy Yancey. The artwork of the fingers and keys is from Albert ...
