Pink Funhouse CD  (2008) Explicit

One Rhythm album
CD $8.99  SALE 4.4 stars Top 100 Audio Samples
Pink's insistently hooky, attitude-filled pop-rock has kept the singer a fixture on the radio and on singles charts since the early 2000s. The artist's fifth effort, FUNHOUSE, doesn't tamper with the formula: Pink's powerhouse vocals and in-your-face approach, backed by stadium-sized production, are in full effect on all 12 tracks. Even though the album deals primarily with aftermath of her divorce and includes serious moments of self-confrontation like "Sober," fans needn't worry that Pink has lost any of her chutzpah. If anything, there's an increased sense of confidence and newfound liberation on tracks like the chest-thumping "So What" and the mischievous, bouncing "Bad Influence." In softer moments, like the ballad "I Don't Believe You" and the soulful "One Wrong Foot," Pink channels her personal experience into expressions that carry no less strength or muscle. But FUNHOUSE is a pop album first and foremost, and its catchy choruses, rollicking beats, and memorable vocal performances won't disappoint. Arrangers: Stevie Blacke; Uli Janson; Henrik Janson. R Kelly Untitled CD  (2009)

One Rhythm CD music
CD $11.18  SALE 3.5 stars Top 100
After his aborted, Internet-leaked 2008 album, 12 Play: 4th Quarter, R. Kelly busied himself with guest spots for Beyoncé, T-Pain, and Kanye West, even offering a free download on iTunes, "I Believe," inspired by the election of president Barack Obama. While such moves ensured that Kelly would never stray far from the R&B throne he's occupied for more than a decade, his 2009 reboot of 12 Play, Untitled, should provide more than enough reason for fans to keep coming back for more. From Auto-Tune-laden crowd-pleasers like "Outta the Game" and "Crazy Night" to rousing club-oriented numbers like "Echo," Kelly downplays the slower "baby-making" jams this time around for a set of largely uptempo songs, capped by a sultry collaboration with Keri Hilson ("Number One"). ~ Andy Kellman Recording information: 4747et. Boyz II Men Love CD  (2009)

One Rhythm songs
CD $12.64  SALE 4 stars Top 500
The title of Boyz II Men's third consecutive covers album is only partially indicative. The love songs covered on this disc span several decades and styles, unlike Throwback (`70s and early-`80s funk and soul) and Motown: A Journey Through Hitsville USA (self-explanatory), both of which were more focused thematically. What ties these songs together is that they are love songs, and nothing else. That early-`60s R&B (Sam Cooke's "Cupid"), late-`90s country (Lonestar's "Amazed"), and early-`80s rock (Journey's "Open Arms," a choice likely influenced by producer Randy Jackson) are all part of the mix only hints at the randomness of the selections. Despite the range of the sources, Boyz II Men tie it all together. ~ Andy Kellman The title of Boyz II Men's third consecutive covers album is only partially indicative. Goin' Down
Tubes Goin' Down CDs  (1996) (Import) Reissue

One Rhythm songs
CD $15.65  5 stars
Before the Tubes nabbed an MTV-fueled pop hit in 1983, this art rock group from San Francisco was one of the cultest of cult favorites. Led by the flamboyant and glammy Fee Waybill, the Tubes were initially more a collective of performance artists who came together in music, blending the bizarre with the hilarious, creating a live show that became an underground sensation. A generous double-disc set, GOIN' DOWN...THE TUBES, captures the aura of the act's 1970s incarnation, one of the unique musical forces of the rock era. Although they are known to modern listeners as the band behind the new wave gem "She's a Beauty," the Tubes had an entirely different career during their mid- to late-'70s tenure on the A&M label. Working with gifted producers like Al Kooper and Todd Rundgren, the group created a body of work that fused prog rock instrumental virtuosity, the sarcasm of new wave, and Frank Zappa-styled musical satire into a style all its own. Listeners get a great chance to sample the Tubes' ambitious style on Goin' Down, a generous two-CD compilation that includes all of their radio favorites, album tracks from each of their A&M releases (including the Remote Control album in its entirety), and most of the rarities that had previously appeared on T.R.A.S.H. (Tubes Rarities and Smash Hits). The end result is one-stop shopping for any listener who wants to get all the highlights of their 1970s work without having to hunt down the group's often inconsistent albums. Songs like "What Do You Want from Life" and "Don't Touch Me There" sound as eccentrically witty as ever, but the real surprises are the album tracks: "My Head Is My Only House Unless It Rains" is a surprisingly subtle ballad full of hypnotic synthesizer textures, and "This Town" skewers big city life over a tune that re-creates the vintage Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin lounge pop sound with surprising faithfulness. The package is rounded out by brief but informative liner notes and a selection of provocative pictures from the group's notorious 1970s stage shows. All in all, Goin' Down may be a little too much Tubes for the casual listener, but it remains the definitive ...

RX The Prescription
Dr Pheelgood RX The Prescription CD  (2009)

One Rhythm CD music
CD $13.15
Phillip Anderson, AKA Dr. Pheel Good, has always had a passion for music. Growing up in Buffalo NY, he has been singing since the age of five. Although at age five, his audience was the church congregation. However, the love and support he received encouraged him to use his talent to inspire others. Even as a young boy his emotions showed when he sang, this touched the heart of people who heard him. Phillip was inspired early on by Stevie Wonder. Determined to sing and be heard, he sang in the church choir and sang in a boys vocal group called Voices From Heaven. Performing with this group allowed him many opportunities to perform at various churches, Gospel Festivals and even a local television morning show.

Phillip spent a lot of time listening to music, he even taught himself to play the piano by ear. His mentor at the time, Evertte Benton worked with and encouraged him to practice in his free time. After relocating to Denver with his family in 1996, Phillip right away joined the church choir and became involved with the chorus in high school. Phillip's deep appreciation for music helped to foster and form the style of music he performs today. He is currently lead singer for the band The Atomic Brass Project. The band has had the opportunity to perform at many clubs and outdoor festivals in the Denver, Colorado area. Being a part of "ABP" has allowed Phillip to cover some of his favorite artists including Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and Earth, Wind and Fire. Phillip's determination lead him to compete for American Idol where he made it through to the Hollywood rounds on two occasions. The experience of competition has made him more determined and focused on pursing his career as a solo artist.

In his first solo project Phillip has been ...
