Karaoke: Sarah Mclachlan album
$5.99 The finest example of perfect disco pop, and a record that should be prescribed to musical snobs and manic depressives. The album is a true ambassador of what pop music can be. Jackson whoops and dances through a suite of unforgettable melodies that should be danced to with a smile on your face. Each track offers at least one musical hook, whether it is the beauty of 'Human Nature' (who can resist the 'dada dada da da da') or the 'whoo whoo' of 'Billie Jean'. It's all too good.
Principally recorded at Westlake Audio, Los Angeles, California.

| | Very Best Of Enya CD (2009)
Karaoke: Sarah Mclachlan album
$14.24 Comprised of 18 tracks culled from the singer/composer's first three decades, The Very Best of Enya was pieced together by the artist herself, along with longtime collaborators Nicky and Roma Ryan. Luckily, the trio seems enamored by most of the same songs that the general public is, resulting in one of those rare "greatest-hits" collections that goes deep without depriving the listener of the essentials. With tunes like "Orinoco Flow," "Caribbean Blue," and "Book of Days" in the pot and out of the way, it's easier to appreciate hidden gems like "Cursum Perficio," "Boadicea," "Trains and Winter Rains," and "Anywhere Is." Also notable is the inclusion of "May It Be" and a previously ...

| | John McCutcheon Greatest Story Never Told CD (2002)
Karaoke: Sarah Mclachlan music CDs
$14.45 Though largely recognized for his music for children, singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist John McCutcheon crafted his 26th album, GREATESTSTORY NEVER TOLD, outside this category. For starters, the record moves beyond the bouncy sing-alongs of his children's output to draw on Appalachian folk, 1960s protest singing, bluegrass, and campfire songs. In addition to these diverse source influences, the songs on GREATEST STORY are political in nature, and many offer critiques and commentaries on war, consumer culture, and civil rights.
"Follow the Light," for example, is a song about 9/11, while "Dancing in the Street" offers a portrait of a character brushed to the fringes of the capitalist system. "Walk on Water" promotes environmental conservation, and "Not in My Name" condemns terrorists who claim God ordains their hate crimes. McCutcheon even throws in a love song for good measure ("Last First Kiss"). The artist's fine musicianship (on guitar, banjo, hammer dulcimer, and other instruments), and his knack for songcraft and storytelling are all ...
| | Toucaen Once Somebody's Baby Boy CD (2004)
Karaoke: Sarah Mclachlan songs
$17.45 The first album on swim from Manchester artisan Dave Scattergood expands on the craftsmanship of his debut track, "Lecci on the Grand Jatte," which appeared on the Swim Team #2 compilation. Opening with a genuine overture (though noted as "Prelude and Copper Rooftop"), the three-minute warm-up finds Scattergood surfing through his settings of keyboard sounds, all of which warm up nicely to the first real song, "Springs Under Halle," which builds slowly from frolicking chimes into a skipping breakbeat adorned with all manner of spring fair color. He is less playful on "Sunset Drinks in Little Havana" and "09:20pm Car Ride," but unlike many of his pastoral electronic peers, Scattergood ...
