Very Good!! Our Shangri-la is Wonderfull
Great Album!! 5:15AM and Our Shangri-la are the best!!!, but the others are good too. Recomended. I'm very happy with CD Universe...This CD takes only 10 days to arrive in my hands here in BRAZIL.

One of his best efforts lately
I was slightly hesitant about purchasing this CD after purchasing the prior two CDs "All the Roadrunning" and "Ragpickers Dream" that seemed to me rather flat and away from his normal style. But he certainly redeemed himself with this CD that is very reminiscent of Dire Straits early albums. The lyrics are out of this world and he still has a way of making a simple guitar note sound so elegant. I'd like to see Mark Knopfler and Sting team up for a CD together since Mark's and Sting's voices blend so well together. Of course for the true Mark Knopfler fan you will know that Sting has performed with Dire Straits way back when on the song "Money For Nothing". Mark or Sting if you are reading this do the world a favor and do an CD together. For those of you looking to buy this particular CD, do yourself a favor as there is not a bad song on the entire CD.

True Knopfler
A master songwriter in his element, 5:15AM, Boom Like That, Back to Tupelo, Sonny Liston, fantastic songs based on real people.
Google words like Angus Sibbet, Ray Kroc, Elvis Presley and Sonny Liston and you will see what I mean.
This mastery of lyric and music complementation are back the the young Mark of Romeo and Juliet and Telegraph Road.

dull but nice
It is ideal music for background buzzing - invite friends, read a book, think or dream - yes, then Shangri-La works great. If you only concentrate on the music you fall to sleep, no way out. I can not listen these songs, I can only hear nice baritone voice, high class instruments and polished production - nothing should disturb me. And it works! :-)

He can do better
I am a Knopfler fan, hence i like this album. His unique guitar style has always impressed me. I agree with the term 'Rock poetry' in describing the songs. His ability of story telling through song is beyond amazing. My personal favourite has to be 'Boom Like That' which i heard on the radio prior to it's release. Won me over totally!
However i agree that the last few songs do drone a little bit. Knopfler is capable of better, more lively rock n' roll songs. I'd like to see a return to a Dire Straits vein of style. Certainly not the best of his solo career, for that try 'Sailing to Philladelphia'.
