Recording information: Applehead Recording, Woodstock, NY (06/2004).Alternative Press (p.112) - "The band are melodic and poppy in their sing-alongs, their sound bathed in piano, synth and just a hint of electronica....Codeseven seem comfortable in their more mature pursuits." - 3 out of 5 CMJ (p.5) - "[D]elicate guitar exchanges, meandering synths and gentle pop hooks replace the screams and distortion of earlier releases. Urgency and energy are still present, but they're more subtle." Dancing Echoes/Dead Sounds Music Codeseven Dancing Echoes/Dead Sounds Songs | 1. | Memoire Reincarnee, La |

Dancing Echoes/Dead Sounds
$21.94 When Anthrax released AMONG THE LIVING in 1987, the band was a part of a then-burgeoning heavy metal sub-genre called speed or thrash metal. This was an inversion of glam metal. The band members wore worn-out jeans and T-shirts, their long hair was hairspray-free, and not a smudge of make-up was applied to their unsightly mugs. Their music was dense, borrowing speed from punk and hardcore and mammoth guitar riffing from metal, and featured thought-provoking lyrics. AMONG THE LIVING not only served as Anthrax's commercial breakthrough, but (along with seminal releases by Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer) the album brought this new musical form to the forefront.
The members of Anthrax were a bunch of comic-book-reading, jam-wearing heavy metal fans from NYC, and the music reflects the lifestyle. The band based it's U.K. Top-30 hit single "I Am the Law" on a favorite comic-book character (Judge Dread). "Imitation Of Life," a song about phony people that contains one ...

| | Pelican What We All Come To Need CD (2009)
Dancing Echoes/Dead Sounds
$11.49 One had to wonder what Pelican's signing to Southern Lord could possibly mean. To be truthful, while the band did write and perform more structurally formal material on 2007's CITY OF ECHOES, they retained their trademark post-metal aesthetic -- percussive repetition, overtone basslines, and nuanced guitar riffing. On WHAT WE ALL COME TO NEED, they have taken it not a step further, but a step more inside that aesthetic. The concentration here is on songwriting rather than ...

| | Kiss Unmasked CD (1980)
Dancing Echoes/Dead Sounds
$6.49 Released in 1980, UNMASKED is the first album by Kiss not featuring the four original members. Although featured on the album cover, drummer Peter Criss was replaced by session man and David Letterman band member Anton Fig. With disco all but dead and new wave setting in, the group took a pop approach with producer Vini Poncia at the helm. While the record may have alienated hard core fans that were used to the band's heavier sound, the record did manage to appeal to Kiss' ever growing kiddie base.
The band's lyrical content remained consistent though, as "Is That You?" describes a vixen-like character close to the group. "Shandi", the only single off the record, is a catchy pop ballad featuring Paul Stanley on lead vocals. Lead guitarist Ace Frehley contributes vocally to 2 tracks: "Talk To Me" and "Torpedo Girl", increasing his input ...

| | Pop Group Y CD (1979) (Import) Bonus Track; Remastered
Dancing Echoes/Dead Sounds
$11.79 Abrasive, but interesting, the Pop Group's debut is perhaps the most succinct summation of their angry and defiant approach to rock & roll. Although at times resembling the discordant funk of fellow post-punk radicals Gang of Four, the Pop Group leave rhythm behind almost as quickly as they find it, and the result is a clattering din of sound resembling an aural collage. The longish, guitar-driven track "We Are Time" is the strongest cut, establishing a solid groove that won't let go. ~ John Dougan
2007 digitally remastered reissue of the Post-Punk radicals influential 1979 debut album featuring one bonus track. The band's name is certainly ironic (they are the furthest thing from Pop), but there is something ...
