The first edition (released in 1992) proved to be the first "unplugged" Tuna album featuring new material in nearly 23 years. Special guests Pete Sears, Maria Muldauer, and the Grateful Dead's Bob Weir join Hot Tuna stalwarts Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady for a set of acoustic blues recorded at Mill Valley, CA's Sweetwater Club in '92, featuring such highlights as "Winin' Boy Blues," "Embryonic Journey," and "Maggie's Farm."

SWEETWATER TWO proves to be every bit as enjoyable as its predecessor, containing such highlights as "Hesitation Blues," "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl" (with Weir), "Parchman Farm," and a studio song, "Endless Sleep." Combining layered vocals with a heavily looped guitar sound, "Until We Sleep" begins ABOUT FACE with an almost Byrds-like quality, while the gentleness of the acoustic opening to the ballad "Murder" disguises its homicidal subject matter. Both "Love On the Air," and "All Lovers are Deranged," are distinguished by lyrics written by Pete Townshend, and "Blue Light" is an attempt at funk with a Floydian flavor. Gilmour's strength at ballad writing is evidenced in "Out of the Blue," while the obligatory instrumental is "Let's Get Metaphysical." The album closer is, appropriately enough, the song "Near the End." All in all an essential album in any Floyd fan's collection.
