Precious Lord album
$21.29 Shepherd's reverence for his musical roots are centerstage on this CD/DVD package featuring the guitarslinger with rhythm section of bassist Tommy Shannon and drumer Chris slayton performing with some of the greatest blues players of our time as well as lesser-known but historically significant bluesmen. Traveling to their hometowns to record everywhere from juke joints to front porches, from New Orleans to Kansas, Shepherd celebrates and becomes part of blues history.
More than a mere live album, this collection of impromptu performances, recorded at both established venues and in kitchens and on front porches throughout the American South, captures a rapidly vanishing generation of bluesmen and women singing and playing with the blues musician Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his Double Trouble rhythm section. Featuring well-known artists such as B.B. King and Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, as well as lesser-known performers such as Wild Child Butler and Cootie Stark, this combination CD and DVD ...

Precious Lord album
$17.19 Recorded between 1970 and 1980. Includes liner notes by John McDermott.
Digitally remastered by Suha Gur (Universal Music Group Studios).
Prior to Eric Clapton's pop- and MTV-driven mid-'80s work, he spent the '70s and early '80s playing languid, singer-songwriter soft rock evocative of J.J. Cale and Don Edwards. But Clapton always kept one foot in the blues of his youth. BLUES brings this material together in one place and throughout, Slowhand taps into an inner spirituality that does these blues standards well.
The first disc contains studio recordings that include tributes to many influences including Elmore James ("The Sky Is Crying") and Willie Dixon ("Meet Me [Down At the Bottom]"). Most impressive is a stripped-down version of Little Walter's "Mean Old World," in which Clapton and Duane Allman duet using National steel and slide guitars. The tempo picks up during an alternate version of Bo Diddley's "Before You Accuse Me" that becomes a rollicking shuffle and a cover of Muddy Water's "Blow Wind ...

Precious Lord CD music
$7.59 SLOW DOWN is a Enhanced CD containing both a full audio program as well as multimedia computer files.
All tracks have been digitally mastered using HDCD technology.
SLOW DOWN won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album.
Let's dispel a common misconception right off the bat; Keb Mo is not a blues singer. To call him one would be as limiting as calling Lyle Lovett a country singer. He's got his finger in too many musical pies to ...

| | John Lee Hooker Definitive Collection CD (2000) Import
Precious Lord songs
$17.19 John Lee Hooker's sprawling, six-decade-long discography is impossible to boil down to a single-disc best-of, though that hasn't stopped dozens of record companies from trying. Hip-O's 20-track THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION is as well-selected and comprehensive a set as one is likely to find, however, drawing as it does from Hooker's entire career and choosing the best of his recordings from his endless succession of label associations.
The disc kicks off with one of the Hook's anthems, "Boogie Chillen," a raw, solo electric stomp from his earliest days ...
| | Jimmy "T99" Nelson Cry Hard Luck: The RPM & Kent Recordings 1951-61 CD (2003) (Import) United Kingdom
Precious Lord album
$16.95 Subtitled - The RPM & Kent Recordings 1951-61. 2003 remastered compilation for the classic blues stylist provides definitive examples of Texas-influenced, cool & cultured west coast blues. These 23 classic masters have never been collected for CD release before now. Ace.
Indisputably the best Jimmy Nelson compilation, Cry Hard Luck: The RPM And Kent Recordings 1951-61 collects every darned last thing he did for the RPM/Kent/Modern stable of labels in his early career. The 23 tracks, all from 1952-1954 except for four songs cut in 1960, include not just RPM and Kent singles, but also a bunch of outtakes and alternates, some of which didn't surface until the 1980s, a couple of which appear for the first time here. (There's also a previously unissued extended version of his 1952 single "Baby Child.") While Nelson lacked a voice or material as top-notch as those of the best early-'50s R&B singers, this is solid, if characteristic almost to the point of generic, West Coast R&B-blues with a jazzy influence. The thick-voiced Nelson sometimes sounds rather like Big Joe Turner, and had a knack -- hardly unique among R&B singers of the time ...
