Hit Zone: Top Pop Singers features renditions of hits from the '50s through the 2000s by a group of young session singers. Like the Kidz Bop series, most of the versions of the songs here pale in comparison to the originals, but the covers of "Sk8er Boi," "Pieces of Me," "Walk Like an Egyptian" and "Accidentally in Love" aren't too bad. Most kids would be better off listening to the original versions of the songs included here (especially the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back" and Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog"), but as far as these singalong pop cover collections go, Hit Zone: Top Pop Singers isn't dreadful. ~ Heather Phares

A charming record that is sure to strike an amiable chord among children's audiences and all ages. Sesame Street released "In Harmony" as an effort to bring together an all-star cast of talented musicians known for their commercial appeal during the late '70s. The album opens up with a beautifully spun and delightfully crafted poem/song, "Wynken, Blynken and Nod," words by Eugene Field with melody by Lucy Simon. Sailing off to a sea of dew one starry night are the fisherman three, fishing for the herrin' fish, "nets of silver and gold have we," sing the Doobie Brothers.
