With the help of her husband, "Mutt" Lange, a legendary producer who helmed mammoth hits by AC/DC and Def Leppard, Canadian songstress Shania Twain developed a highly commercial style of country-tinged pop music that helped her become one of ... Full Descriptionthe biggest stars in America. Though GREATEST HITS doesn't include the two major singles from her 1993 self-titled debut, Twain has released so many hits that the 21-track disc is still overflowing with familiar chart-busters. Listening to these ubiquitous songs all in one stretch will leave listeners awed at the breadth of Twain and Lange's incredible talent for catchy pop ditties that sound cutting-edge while still retaining that ever-important hint of Nashville twang. In fact, though laced with the usual fiddles and steel guitars, many songs end up recalling ABBA and the Cars as much as anything south of the Mason-Dixon Line. Of course, the main attraction is always Twain's smoothly sensual voice, which has won over millions of fans worldwide.
Personnel include: Shania Twain (vocals); Mark McGrath, Billy Currington (vocals); Biff Watson (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, nylon-string guitar); Larry Byrom (acoustic guitar); Michael Thompson (electric guitar, slide guitar, E-bow, bouzouki); Dan Huff (electric guitar); Nashville String Machine (strings); Arthur Stead (organ); Joe Chemay (bass guitar); Paul Leim (drums, percussion); Mutt Lange (background vocals).
Recording information: 1995 - 2003.

Upbeat tunes from Shania I bought this CD for my wife. It has some of her popular songs on it, including, "I feel like a woman." For me, the CD is O.K, but I,m not a counry fan, but for my wife, she likes it very much. The style is not so much county , and the tunes are upbeat. If you like Shania, this is a good CD. Greatest Hits album
$21.35 THE VERY BEST OF includes a 46-page booklet with pictures and track information.
"Hole In The World" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
The Eagles' founders Don Henley and Glenn Frey were forthright in their desire to bring then-emerging country rock to new heights of commercial success. Formed in Los Angeles in 1971, they learned from their observations of the scene around them, and subsequently took their music to the top of the charts. They stayed there throughout the '70s, becoming synonymous with the sound of Southern California rock.
The band's first hit was with a song by Jackson Browne, and their first album also included a cover of "Ol' 55" by Tom Waits, but the bulk of the material they're known for was penned by Henley and Frey. This two-disc set wisely expands the original VERY BEST OF collection with important album tracks that have also long been band staples and favorites (such as the aforementioned Waits tune and a number of other songs from their pre-platinum first three releases). As is often the common industry-wide practice, there's also a new song, "Hole in the World."
A 2-CD retrospective from the multiplatinum superstars whose 1976 "Greatest Hits" is the #1 album of all time! Special ...
| | Guns N' Roses Greatest Hits CD (2004) Remastered; Digipak
Greatest Hits CD music
$10.39 Hard-rock juggernauts Guns 'N' Roses arrived as rock & roll saviors in a dark time of generic hair metal and bloated pop. With only five studio albums to draw from (one being the all-covers SPAGHETTI INCIDENT), nearly a third of the material on GREATEST HITS is unsurprisingly devoted to other people's songs. Inclusions range from a dramatic version of Bob Dylan's "Knockin' On Heavens Door" and an outsized take on Paul McCartney's "Live and Let Die" to punk classic "Ain't It Fun" and doo-wop nugget "Since I Don't Have You."
The band's original songs, however, are the heart of G'N'R's appeal. Start with the quintessential heavy-rock anthem "Welcome to the Jungle." Amid the thunderous time-keeping and tasty riffing are slinky grooves, sexy swagger, and quite an aura of danger. The acoustic "Patience" found these tattooed bad boys showing off a softer side, while archetypal ...
| | Tim Mcgraw Live Like You Were Dying CD (2004)
Greatest Hits music CDs
$8.59 Country superstar Tim McGraw surely needs no apologists; the Louisiana-born singer, who's racked up millions of record sales and married country diva Faith Hill, is practically a force of nature. However, there is a misconception of McGraw as just a high-gloss hat act, a notion that a close listen to LIVE LIKE YOU WERE DYING should dispel.
For one thing, while almost all of his peers record with the same pool of Nashville studio hotshots, McGraw continues to work with his longtime band, the Dancehall Doctors. Additionally, progressive-country cult heroes Bruce Robison and Rodney Crowell are among the songwriters tapped for material here. Most importantly, at a time when most mainstream country artists are compelled to pander to their audience by maintaining a "don't worry, be happy" attitude, McGraw isn't afraid to journey into darker emotional territory, often with no clear way out--see the heartbreaking "Blank Sheet of Paper," and "Open Season ...
| | George Strait 50 Number Ones CDs (2004)
Greatest Hits songs
$20.35 From the early 1980s onward, there's been no greater champion of traditional country-music values in the mainstream (and none more successful) than George Strait. Like a virtual Ramones of country, he's remained unshakeable in his devotion to a straightforward, no-frills aesthetic of which he's become the unquestioned standard-bearer. This populist stance has accordingly resounded with huge numbers of listeners; if you thought it was impressive when Alabama released a hits collection containing 40 Number One country hits, try Strait's 50 NUMBER ONES on for size.

| | Toby Keith Greatest Hits 2 CD (2004)
Greatest Hits album
$13.85 All tracks have been digitally mastered using HDCD technology.
Although Toby Keith was a regular resident of the Billboard country charts for nearly 10 years before the release of 2002's UNLEASHED, it was that album and its attendant pro-Iraq War anthem, "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)," that catapulted him to genuine superstar status. The Oklahoma-born singer is often criticized for his politically conservative beliefs, but one listen to GREATEST HITS 2 will make it hard for any listener to resist Keith's warm, commanding baritone, dance-floor-ready neo-traditionalist rhythms, and sharp songwriting.
Though it doesn't present anything from Keith's massively popular 2003 record SHOCK'N Y'ALL, ...

| | Rebecca Lynn Howard Forgive CD (2002)
Greatest Hits songs
$12.99 Country singer-songwriter Rebecca Lynn Howard is not only an accomplished vocalist, she's a star-quality songsmith as well. Some of her own compositions have found homes with the likes of Trisha Yearwood, John Michael Montgomery, and others. But even if her pen only got a workout when she signed her checks, her voice would be enough to carry her career. Something of a prodigy, Howard was already recording when she was in her teens (the release of FORGIVE found her merely a tender 23 years old). This may account for the maturity in her delivery; a strong, assured style that carries her admirably through both her own songs and those of others. And though much of FORGIVE bears a contemporary pop-oriented tinge, Howard's still not above the occasional trad moment, as on the Dennis Linde-penned gem "Jesus and Bartenders."
