Can't figure out why EC recorded this one after Me and Mr. Johnson. It's a lot more of the same and looks like EC is cashing in by milking de bluescow.

...WOW This guy is amazing. Eric has once again worked his magic, re-creating these amazing blues hits. I could listen to that album all day long. He interprets the songs amazingly, again showing why he's one of, if not the best Submitted by Evan (Portland, OR, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Mr. Johnson - Mr. Clapton Mr. Clapton gives Mr. Johnson his due with this album. Thanks for Mr. Johnson for giving Mr. Clapton some excellent music to work with. Get this album you will not be disappointed. Submitted by Patrick (Houma, LA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A Worthy tribute to the Master of Blues Clapton gives us an outstanding album of renditions of classic acoustic blues from the one and only Blues Master, Robert Johnson. While these songs loose something in the modern era production style employed by Clapton, it is still one of the most intense, moving and powerful translations of Robert Johnson's works avaliable.
In this, Clapton should succeed brilliantly and will hopefully turn another generation of listeners on to Johnson's compositions as his masterpiece, Unplugged.
Sessions For Robert J is a must own for any blues afficiando and Eric Clapton fan. Submitted by redledge (Somerset, KY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Sessions For Robert J album
$15.99 In 1964, when the Beatles where still singing "I Want to Hold Your Hand," Bob Dylan was quietly making history at New York's Philharmonic Hall (now Avery Fisher Hall). ANOTHER SIDE OF BOB DYLAN had recently been released, but even the flights of fancy on "Spanish Harlem Incident" and "To Ramona" (both performed here), while unprecedented, couldn't have prepared the audience for the Big Bang of songwriting represented by the still-unrecorded "Gates of Eden" and "It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)." In a voice full of youthful vitality and insouciance, Dylan delivered groundbreaking poetic epics to a crowd that must have been equally confounded and exhilarated.
Disc Two contains more of Dylan's older, more conventional material as well as four duets with Joan Baez, including the folk ballad "Silver Dagger," which Dylan would never record. ...

Sessions For Robert J CD music
$14.05 Eric Clapton and the blues have been inextricably linked dating back to his mid-1960s stint as a string-bending phenomenon in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. A decade after the release of his blues homage FROM THE CRADLE, Clapton's ME AND MR. JOHNSON pays tribute to his hero Robert Johnson. Rounding up a stellar backing crew, including Andy Fairweather-Low and Jerry Portnoy (both of whom appeared on CRADLE), Slowhand approaches the Johnson canon with a relaxed ...

Sessions For Robert J songs
$22.75 Cream's set of reunion shows in May 2005 was a justly hot ticket. The legendary rock trio of Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce, and Eric Clapton--two jazz musicians and a blues guitarist--was one of the most influential bands of the 1960s, even though they played together for less than three years. They brought their psychedelic fusion of blues and pop into the mainstream with albums like FRESH CREAM and ...

$19.59 Ultradiscs are mastered from the original master tapes using Mobile Fidelity's proprietary mastering technique, then plated with 24 karat gold and housed in a stress-resistant lift-lock jewel box.
With this, his first solo album, Eric Clapton did a complete 180 from his work of the previous five years. Gone were the long, jazzy solos and rootsy Chicago blues work. In their place, Clapton was stretching as a singer and seeking to define his own song forms, inspired by the Beatles, the Band, and his new found collaborators from the southern R&B circuit, Delaney And Bonnie.
ERIC CLAPTON marks Clapton's first use of the Fender Stratocaster. Its high, wirey, percussive sound stands in stark contrast to the dark, fat, singing Gibson sounds Clapton had perfected with John Mayall, Cream and Blind Faith. This new Clapton sound is quite striking, from the twangy leads on his opening instrumental "Slunky," to the cutting feints and jabs which transform J.J. Cale's "After Midnight" into a Clapton signature piece.
Positioned as it is between the legendary BLIND FAITH and LAYLA sessions, ERIC CLAPTON has long been underrated by fans and critics ...

Sessions For Robert J songs
$14.65 Drawing on the music from the isolated mountainous regions of North Carolina, Music From the Lost Provinces is an outstanding set of the area's many colorful talents. With many of these songs being the source material for string band revivalists, the New Lost City Ramblers in particular, this collection takes on a historical folklorist relevance. Excellently compiled liner notes go a long way in introducing such characters as 16-year-old Frank Blevins & His Tar Heel Rattlers and the Carolina Night Hawks, among many others. There is a certain surreal ...
| | Norton Buffalo Roots Of Our Nature CD (2002)
Sessions For Robert J album
$14.65 In an intimate acoustic setting, Norton Buffalo and Roy Rogers present a set of original tunes whose flavor suggests roots much further back in time. Aside from a few tasteful string parts, Roots is all about crisp finger-picked and slide guitar, Buffalo's earthy and expressive harmonica, and each artist's agreeably unpolished vocals. Their lyrics embrace traditional imagery, from saloon balladry to ramblin' songs. On "Trinity" the words sustain an especially rustic eloquence through ...
