| | Resin Dogs Gunshot Dub CD Single - Import Resin Dogs Discography of CDs
Gunshot Dub is a sample mash-up of Dancehall, Ska and Breakbeat styles. Featured on Resin Dog's second full-length release, the track features noted vocalist Spikey T, whose previous work includes collaborations with Rae & Christian, Jah Wobble and Morcheeba. The Dogs have plundered their 60's jazz and 70's Jamaican records to cut and paste an upbeat horn-drenched call to the dance floor. The upstroke is in effect and the analog bass is heavy. Features a bevy of versions by Dub Pistols, Salmonella Dub and Koolism, among others. Tracks TBA. MGM. 2004. Gunshot Dub album
$8.99 Slayer built a rabid following with faster-than-light thrash metal, eerie, disturbing lyrics, and bassist/singer Tom Araya's screamed vocals. 1986's REIGN IN BLOOD, a blinding metal classic that clocked in at below a half hour in length and was produced by Rick Rubin, put the band on the metal map. Although Slayer was a bunch of longhairs, it wasn't uncommon to see hardcore skinheads slamming away at the band's shows. But 1988's SOUTH OF HEAVEN alienated many of Slayer's punk fans, as the group slowed their speed metal to a Black Sabbath-like crawl.
1990's SEASONS IN THE ABYSS follows its predecessor's formula. The album was embraced by metal-heads everywhere, eventually earning Slayer its first gold-certified record. The furious opening "War Ensemble" is a throwback to Slayer's earlier speed metal direction, while the album-closing title track is a murky, swarming chunk of metal. Other standouts include the chilling "Dead Skin Mask," which dealt lyrically with notorious killer Ed Gein, "Blood Red," "Expendable Youth," "Hallowed Point," and "Skeletons of Society." For fans of extreme-metal, it doesn't get any better than Slayer's SEASONS IN THE ABYSS.
Recorded at Hit City West, Hollywood Sound, California and Record Plant, Los Angeles, California.
Slayer: Tom Araya (vocals, bass); Jeff Hanneman, Kerry King (guitar); Dave Lombardo (drums).

| | Madonna American Life (2003) SNGL
Gunshot Dub album
$7.49 AMERICAN LIFE Limited Edition includes a 2 sided 23" x 35" poster and postage size Madonna stamp sheet.
Re-teaming with French electro-pop producer Mirwais, (who also lent his talents to 2000's MUSIC), Madonna uses her perspective as a globally famous ex-pat living in England to comment on the USA's spiritual state throughout AMERICAN LIFE. Prominently featuring plenty of acoustic guitar among the synth-soaked swooshes and Euro-disco beats, the Material Girl ends up going for a more stripped-down sound. This technique works particularly well on the opening title cut, which finds Ms. Ciccone rapping about bodyguards, soy lattes, gardeners and other upper-class perks that don't seem to make the spiritual side of life any better.
"Hollywood" does an even better job addressing the downside of fame while pumping in a few more hooks. Faith in family fuels the lush "Nothing Fails," with its unexpected gospel-chorus outro, while amore inspires the light and tight "Love Profusion," and insecurity plagues the solo-acoustic "X-Static Process." Of course all these songs of self-discovery and spirituality didn't stop Madonna from including "Die Another Day," the Euro-techno title song from the James Bond film of the same name.
12 inch taken from her 2003 album American Life. Includes 5 versions of 'American Life' (Missy Elliott American Dream Remix, Oakenfold Downtempo Remix, Peter Rauhofer's American Anthem Part 1 & Part 2 & Felix Da Housecat's Devin Dazzle Club Mix) plus 'Die Another Day' (Richard Humpty Vission Electrofried Mix). Maverick.

Producers: Madonna, Mirwais Ahmadzai, Missy Elliot, Nisan Stewart, Craig X. Brockman.

| | Tracey Thorn Distant Shore CD (1982) (Import)
Gunshot Dub music CDs
$17.09 Tracey Thorn's solo album sounds pretty much like what it is--a transition from the ramshackle Marine Girls to the much more sophisticated Everything but the Girl. A Distant Shore is a low-key affair, simply played on delicate acoustic and electric guitars. The focal point, of course, is Tracey's voice and it is quite lovely as she ambles her way through eight understated originals and apropos covers of the Velvet Underground's "Femme Fatale" and Cole Porter's "Night & Day." ~ Michael Ribas
Out Of The Woods is the first solo album from Tracey Thorn for over two decades and is of course released in March: here's a classic she made earlier. Tracey Thorn is one half of Everything But The Girl. A Distant Shore is Tracey's only solo album and is classy, simple melodic tunes with just vocals and a guitar. The album reached number one in the Indie chart in 1983. 'A Distant Shore' is now being re-issued with a new booklet, and with the surge in popularity of Everything But The Girl with the international hit single 'Missing', interest in Tracey's solo recordings has never been higher.
| | Rolling Stones Sympathy For The Devil Remixes (2003) RMX
Gunshot Dub songs
$7.99 This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
One of the finest examples of decadent and tribal rock & roll, "Sympathy for the Devil" features Mick Jagger luxuriously slipping into the persona of Lucifer and reveling in the role. With its frenzy of percussion and primal shouting, this iconic track even inspired Jean-Luc Godard's film of the same name, which follows the song's 1968 London recording sessions.
Twenty-five years after its release, "Sympathy" gets a tip of the hat from a set of tech-savvy contributors on this seven-song EP. Pop/hip-hop producers the Neptunes apply their trademark sharp beats and thudding bass to two lively, Eastern-tinged remixes that focus on Jagger's sinister vocals, while Big Beat guru Fatboy Slim amps up the piano and percussion on his two boisterous, dance-floor-ready tracks. Of course, nothing can compete with the original recording, a rhythmic, piano-driven, Satanic soliloquy that crescendos with Keith Richards's blistering lead guitar. The ultimate testament to the Stones' reputation as the bad boys of British rock, "Sympathy for the Devil" is a timeless tribute to the dark side of rock & roll.
Seven versions of the classic Stones' song including the original recording plus six remixes (2 each) by The Neptunes, Fatboy Slim & Full Phatt. Limited. ABK. 2003.
Recorded at Olympic Studios, London, England in 1968.
