Metal for your brain
This is an esoteric metal look at the hunt for the great white whale. These guys break the sterotype that metalheads are merely sitting around sucking bongs and playing Nintendo. There was some serious thought put into this album and it shows. Mastodon simply rocks. These guys should be around for many, many years.

Strong Metal Epic
Yes, this album is a strong masterpiece put together both thoughtfully and with quality. While it is not original by being based off of Moby Dick (Laurie Anderson put together an album and a full production tour based off of the novel back in about 1999), it still sounds refreshing with the vocals of old Testament and guitars of Metallica or Megadeth. Good job.

Frenetic metal
Wow, this is the most interesting new thing since Metallica's "Master of Puppets." The music is filled with complex arrangements that will satisfy any metal head, but should also get the attention of general music lovers. I recommend this album to people with an eclectic taste for music. Even if you don't like metal, there's a good chance you will love this. Try it for yourself. This is one of the top 10 metal albums ever made.

Next big band in rock?
Mastodon latest effort is strange, beautiful, aggresive thing that blows anything in modern music away.
Itīs a mix between Kyuss, Rush and Neurosis but maybe a bit more brutal.
You must give this CD some time before you understand itīs Greatness, maybe the best CD on the market for many years, and for years to come.
