BRENDA's still COMIN ON STRONG! If you recall the earlier hits of Miss Dynamite, give a listen to this collection! What a great treat! Recently redone, the voice is a strong as ever, yet on these wonderful ballads,a more mature sound. The arrangments behind are her vocals are fab. She still proves she can rock with the best of 'em in Coming on Strong,Dum,Dum,And Sweet Nothing's. No wonder this lady is the worlds best selling female vocalist. If your a Brenda Lee fan this is a MUST for your collection, if your not, you will be after hearing this! Way to go Miss Dynamite..your still the BEST! 16 Greatest Hits
$11.99 Audio Mixer: Nathaniel Kunkel. Retreating to generally quieter territory after the somewhat splashy IT'S NOT BIG IT'S LARGE, Lyle Lovett also backs away from original tunes on NATURAL FORCES, choosing to devote the bulk of the 11-track album to other writers. Covers are common for Lovett, but not since 1998's STEP INSIDE THIS HOUSE has he spent so much time singing other's songs, and he revisits some of the same composers as before, picking tunes from Townes Van Zandt and Vince Bell, while co-writing "It's Rock and Roll" with Robert Earl Keen. As before, Lyle gravitates toward gentle, moody songs, with Tommy Elskes' slyly sarcastic blues, "Bohemia," ...

| | George Strait 50 Number Ones CDs (2004)
16 Greatest Hits
$16.69 Liner Note Authors: George Strait; Michael McCall. Photographers: Jarrett Gaza; Mark Tucker . There have been plenty of George Strait compilations, and most of have been very good, but none have been as good as 2004's 50 Number Ones. While the 1995 box set Strait Out of the Box illustrated the range and depth of Strait's musical achievement, it may have been too lengthy for some listeners, and shorter compilations like the two-volume The Very Best of Strait left too many hits behind -- and by 2004, all those compilations were out-dated, since Strait continued to top the charts until the release of 50 Number Ones. This double-disc contains all the big hits that he's had since Strait Out of the Box, along with all of his classics from the '80s and early '90s. The title might bend the truth a little bit -- at least according ...
| | Levon Helm Electric Dirt CD (2009)
16 Greatest Hits
$15.65 Audio Mixer: Justin Guip. Photographer: Ahron R. Foster. Not that anyone's keeping score, but as Band alumni records go, Levon is pulling way ahead of the pack with his second keeper in as many tries in the '00s. ELECTRIC DIRT finds the Arkansas legend building on its critically acclaimed predecessor, DIRT FARMER, and bringing the democratic ebullience of his weekly Midnight Ramble live sessions (held in his barn) to record. Ramble stalwarts Larry Campbell and Amy Helm (Levon's daughter) appear all over the album (Campbell as producer and multi-instrumentalist; Amy Helm providing genetically in tune harmonies), while a loose, New Orleans vibe pervades courtesy of Allen Toussaint's horn arrangements (covers of the Grateful ...
| | J J Cale Roll On CD (2009)
16 Greatest Hits
$13.05 Personnel: J.J. Cale (vocals, guitar). Audio Remasterer: Greg Calbi. ROLL ON is a perfectly apt title for a J.J. Cale album. Since the release of 1971's NATURALLY, the Oklahoma-based guitarist and songwriter has happily stuck to his own unique, low-key style. Released shortly after his 70th birthday, ROLL ON continues the easy-going lope of Cale's career, as if the five years since his last album (not counting the 2006 collaboration with longtime acolyte Eric Clapton, THE ROAD TO ESCONDIDO) had never passed. The album features one further collaboration with Clapton in the title track, but the rest of the album features Cale's laconic vocals and gracefully minimalist guitar style in its purest form. While songwriter J.J. Cale has established himself as an elusive and even reluctant legend in popular music with his sporadic string of releases over the ...

Modern power pop bands are in a bit of a pickle. Like any revivalists, if they copy their idols note-perfectly people will say they are nothing but pale imitators. However, if they try to do something unique and stray too far from the self-imposed ...
