Eminem's trademarked heavily syncopated sound provides an almost surreal sheen to the proceedings, and Em's voice graces the strong opening track, "Soldier Like Me (AKA The Return of the Soulja)." The guests run the gamut from 2Pac contemporaries ... Full DescriptionNate Dogg and members of the fallen rapper's crew, the Outlawz, to relative newcomers Jadakiss and G-Unit, but all performances are solid and requisitely reverent to the memory of Tupac Shakur. LOYAL TO THE GAME simply combines strong remaining lyrics of a late master with newer ones, and stands as one of the best posthumous 2Pac releases.

Dozens of posthumous releases have been culled from 2Pac's archives, both by his mother, Afeni Shakur, and by more dubious sources. Eight years after the conflicted poet/thug's death comes LOYAL TO THE GAME, featuring more untapped rhymes. These recordings are the latest unearthed by Ms. Shakur, and while it might be easy to dismiss yet another new collection, two things work in the album's favor. The tapes were handed over to hip-hop icon Eminem, providing a completely unique angle on 2Pac's rhymes. More importantly, while these offerings are late in coming, that is not to say 2Pac's mother is desperately peddling the dregs of his output; the lyrics on LOYAL TO THE GAME are razor-sharp.
Personnel: 2Pac (rap vocals); Ron Isley, Sleepy Brown (vocals); EDI, Eminem, G-Unit, Jadakiss, Nate Dogg, Noble , Obie Trice, Big Syke (rap vocals).

Loyal To The Game album
$12.15 While Nas has never been one for false modesty, it must be quite the rush to include his father, jazz trumpeter Olu Dara, on his single "Bridging the Gap" to speak of his son becoming "the greatest man alive." While that's a tall order, Nas is indisputably among the premier lyricists and provocative thinkers in hip-hop history. The Queens, New York native's seventh record, STREET'S DISCIPLE, is his most ambitious to date, a double album consisting of more than an hour of continual flow, encompassing many corners of the musical map with style.
Without need for filler or skits, the ultra-focused Nas has more than enough on his mind and in his rhyme arsenal to fill the two discs. He opens by raising Cain on false idols, first indicting both sides of the political spectrum on "Nazareth Savage," then scathingly tearing into Kobe Bryant and Puff Daddy (among others) on "These Are Our Heroes." ...

Loyal To The Game CD music
$15.55 ENCORE is far from a letdown, as Eminem's twisted mind continues to produce razor-sharp rhymes, whether examining the world (the aforementioned "Mosh"), venting his spleen ("Puke"), exploring his soul ("Like Toy Soldiers") or just being plain silly ("My 1st Single"). While Em's inclination towards the shocking is well documented, other than "Mosh," the record is relatively toned-down; he even apologizes for racist comments made on a 1993 underground tape. However, that's not to imply that the proceedings are low-key; ENCORE burns with the fire of a master ...

Loyal To The Game music CDs
$12.45 It's fitting that Ludacris would unveil one of the last major albums of 2004. He is one of the wittiest personalities in hip-hop, only rivaled in the one-liner department by Eminem, and the most downright fun rapper in the business.
Ludacris opens with a wry rant on the industry, a common theme, but he uniquely combines the self-aware eye of a ...

Loyal To The Game songs
$12.45 Easily Snoop's most diverse album, R&G slips from solidly street-oriented tracks to purely fun tunes, with moments both sensual and silly that add up to what's almost a concept record. Snoop has always been a master of squaring a mellow melody with his hardcore edge, but he reaches new heights on R&G, particularly on the Neptunes-assisted single "Drop It Like It's Hot" and the incredible early-1980s disco-soul sound ...

Loyal To The Game album
$19.75 After years behind the scenes in the music business, Lil Jon (along with his Eastside Boys, Lil Bo and Big Sam) exploded in late 2002 with his special brand of "crunk," booming bass-fueled hip-hop with the controlled fury of hardcore punk or metal. KINGS OF CRUNK remained near the top of the Billboard charts through 2003, and the lighthearted, raucous party anthem "Get Low" was an unavoidable classic. Lil Jon's affable trademark shouts popped up on hit single after hit single, and those one-word chants even fueled one of the most beloved sketches on the wildly popular comedy series CHAPPELLE'S SHOW.
For the official follow-up, Lil Jon & the Eastside Boys return in 2004 with CRUNK JUICE, picking up right where KINGS OF CRUNK left off, with even more ferocity. After a metal-sampling intro title track, the trio lets loose with the brutal "Get Crunk," barely taking a breath until the slightly slowed-down "Da Blow." While much of the record is hard as nails, Lil Jon finds some time for laid-back moments in collaborations with Usher and Ludacris on "Lovers and Friends" and with R. Kelly and Ludacris (again) on "In Da Club," both hilariously introduced by Chris Rock. CRUNK JUICE ...

Loyal To The Game CD music
$10.85 After many twists and turns, the Game finally dropped the highly anticipated THE DOCUMENTARY as the first major hip-hop release of 2005, and it's quite an opening salvo. On the Kanye West-produced "Dreams," he displays a dizzying intellect, subtly working an apt quote from Nas into an imagined bi-coastal conference between Jam Master Jay and Eazy-E. (The track also invokes political figures ranging from Ronald Reagan to Huey Newton.) The Game's clearly been immersed in the rap world from an early age, and he tips his hat to both past masters and his contemporaries, many of whom appear on the record ...

Loyal To The Game Music Review Average Rating: (3.8 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews What?!! I don't know why they let Eminem produce this album.G-G-G-G-G-Unit? Obie Trice? Elton John? Jadakiss? Come on now.If Pac was still alive, there's no way he would work with "John Boy" or those studio gangstas. The production should've been picked up where Better Dayz(a da*m good album!!) left off.The beats on this album, the first 13 anyway, carry the all too familiar mark of Slim Shady.Lack of instruments, simple booms and ticks, and the worse of all,his voice. The attempt to have Pac giving G-Unit and eminem shoutouts was a plain a** discrace.Pac's voice was sped up and slowed down to match Slim's A-B-C,1-2-3 beats.I gave this album a 5 because of the last 4 tracks.Producers Scott Storch,Red Spyda,Raphael Saadiq, and DJ Quik brought soul to this album that it should've had from the start. Most of us true Tupac fans consider the first 13 tracks a slap in the d*mn face.Only Pac's peers should have the right to remake his music.Only his peers should be spit'n on the tracks with him.Eminem,if they want you to do the next album,PLEASE DON'T!!!!G-G-G-G-G DO-NOT!!!! Same great 2pac!! I've been a tupac fan since before the Makeveli days...this cd is off the hook!!! Eminem in my opinion just adds to the intellectual influence of the tupac legacy. I can't wait for the next release - i never want them to stop coming. Submitted by shakenbake1328 (Fort Wayne, IN, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
