| | Anne Murray I'll Be Seeing You CD Anne Murray Discography of CDs
This is a DualDisc, which contains a CD on one side of the disc and a DVD on the other. Personnel: Anne Murray (vocals); Aidan Mason (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, classical guitar); Don Reed (fiddle); Tom Szczesniak (accordion); Vern Dorge (clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone); Guido Basso (trumpet, flugelhorn); Steve Sexton (keyboards); Peter Bleakney (bass instrument); Gary Craig (drums, percussion). Anne Murray, the lovely, sturdy alto voice that flew "Snowbird," "Danny's Song," and "You Needed Me" to the top of the charts, turns her eye toward that canon of tunes in the Great American Songbook. Murray approaches these stellar standards with nicely balanced doses of melancholy, torch, and twang (not unlike the great Patsy Cline). And classy jazz-tinged arrangements perfectly frame the singer's fine voice in a subtle mix of piano, clarinet, flugelhorn, and occasional accordion. Anne Murray's vocals are like a fine scotch: they just keep getting better as the years go by. This smooth collection of standards is what you would expect from her, with well-arranged orchestrations that complement her already nearly pitch-perfect voice. It's a wonderful set of selections, but not without a bit of melancholy found in each song. I'll Be Seeing You was thematically chosen as a somber but moving tribute to the loss of her close friend Cynthia McReynolds. ~ Rob Theakston

I'll Be Seeing You
$30.19 Thanks to Ronnie James Dio's insistence that Dios change their name to Dios (Malos), the California-based indie rockers get to have two self-titled debut albums. Technically, of course, Dios (Malos) (note how the unwanted appendage to their name is stuffed into parentheses) is the band's sophomore full-length, but it feels and sounds different enough from Dios that it might as well be a second first album. Though the subject matter -- girls, introspection, drugs, girls -- the band covers is ...

| | Bizzy Bone Speaking In Tongues CD (2005)
I'll Be Seeing You
$8.89 Personnel: Bizzy Bone (rap vocals); Bambino , Kahnma (rap vocals). With a title referencing his wild, much-talked-about 2005 appearance on the Houston radio show Damage Control, Bizzy Bone welcomes your confusion on Speaking in Tongues, a driven and scrappy full-length that's a more street-level follow-up to his cryptic 2004 album Alpha and Omega. Last time out, Bizzy surrounded his spiritual raps with glorious production and packaged it with a bonus DVD that told the Bone man's story. This time out, production and packaging are lean and Bizzy's raps are even more detached from the mainstream. He's actually sounding a lot like reggae legend Lee "Scratch" Perry on much of the album, shooting out metaphors that seem gibberish at a glance but flesh themselves out when Bizzy's new brittle snideness is accepted by the listener. Stomping over all doubters, "Bald Head Horse Man" sounds a lot like one of Perry's characters/monikers, as boasts and brags alternate with nonsensical asides and trucker speak, with Bizzy crying out "breaker! breaker!" into his spiritual CB radio. God's name is once again dropped in every song, along with the usual Ns, Fs, and ...

| | Blackthorn Ratty Shoes CD (2001)
I'll Be Seeing You
$18.99 PHILADELPHIA--A pair of ratty shoes is anything but poetic. But transforming the ordinary into the lyrical is all in a day's work for Blackthorn. And as the Irish-Rock band releases its second all-original CD "Ratty Shoes", it continues to bridge the gap between traditional Irish music and what contemporary music with its whimsical yet gritty mix of bass, rhythmic guitars, drums and the keyboard. Keyboardist John Boyce was the catalyst for the cover track's concept. It was two years ago, when Boyce was driving to Woodstock with friend and acoustic guitar player Paul Moore. They were on their way to recording their first all-original CD, "The Other Side." That's when Boyce began talking about an idea for a song--about a pair of shoes that were old and worn-out, but comfortable. The shoes, he said, would have magical powers. Picking up a napkin from the seat of the car, Moore scribbled down some of his thoughts. Later, Moore, developed the idea into a song, giving seemingly worn-out shoes the power to give you anything and take you anywhere. Now two years later, the title track "Ratty Shoes" has come to symbolize the somewhat magical trek the band has taken as musicians and friends. "It's like an audio picture of where everyone is at this time," says newest member of the band, bass player Mike Boyce. "I think that's what a CD should be, a snapshot of who we all are." And it's a picture that developed with mutual collaboration--right down to drummer Mike O'Callaghan, who has always worn a pair of red ratty shoes on stage, and who insists his are really magic. From the screaming electric guitar and pounding drums to the equalizing accordion and piano, the instruments in the CD mix together to create an experience that is singularly Blackthorn--both modern and traditional ...
