Cult Of Snap! 1990 - 2003
$6.09 Following the release of the Talking Heads' fourth album, REMAIN IN LIGHT, the band's husband-and-wife rhythm section, drummer Chris Frantz and bassist Tina Weymouth, opted to record tracks in the Caribbean on the invitation of Islands Records founder Chris Blackwell, thus the Tom Tom Club was born. Joined by Talking Heads touring guitarist Adrian Belew, guitarist Monte Brown, percussionist Steven Stanley, and Weymouth's sisters, Laura and Lani, on background vocals, Frantz and Weymouth crafted a highly rhythmic, groove-laden album that incorporated world music (most obviously on the buoyant, African-tinged ...

Cult Of Snap! 1990 - 2003
$12.39 In the mid-1970s, a band of well-scrubbed art-school graduates appeared on the CBGB's scene in New York City. The name of this band was Talking Heads, and from '77 to '88, they released eight studio albums of inventive and utterly catchy avant-garde pop that turned the rock world on its ear. Fueled by vocalist/guitarist David Byrne's quirky, "I'm tense and nervous, and I can't relax" personality, the group seemed fully formed from the get-go, as evidenced by the martial rhythms and chiming guitars of "Love -> Building on Fire" and the deranged funk of "Psycho Killer."

Rounding out this BEST OF are the Heads' poppier, post-Eno songs ("Road to Nowhere," "And She Was," and others). Although there are more extensive Talking Heads ...

Cult Of Snap! 1990 - 2003
$13.15 Daddy Yankee was one of the leading figures of the reggaeton movement in the mid-2000s, and this dual-disc compilation package is a testament to the Puerto Rican rapper's talent and popularity. BARRIO FINO EN DIRECTO namechecks Daddy Yankee's immensely popular BARRIO FINO album, and several tracks from that album are featured here in live concert versions. Also included on the CD are four new studio cuts, including "Gangsta Zone," with Snoop Dogg, and "Machete Reloaded," with Paul Wall. The presence of these mainstream hip-hop artists shows just how far reggaeton was able to cross over.
On both the live audio tracks and the live footage included on the DVD, it's clear that Daddy Yankee is a first-rate and much-loved performer (his ...
