A pleasant surprise. I came across this CD while browsing CD Universe and was much impressed. In my opinion the real strengths of the band are the section work (top notch), a rhythm section which really drives and some very impressive arrangements. Unfortunately I would have expected better on one or two solos but this apart the session was excellent. The band has a good full sound to it due in no small measure to a great baritone sax and bass trombone. This CD is well worth a listen and I look forward to a follow up.
