The Doobie's biggest commercial success coincided with Michael McDonald's emergence as the leader of the band. His brilliant brand of sophisticated, keyboard-driven pop soul, as exemplified by the title track and the huge hit "What a Fool Believes," ... Full Descriptionwas instantly identifiable and almost impossible to resist. There are tracks here that look back to the Doobie's earlier days as a biker boogie band, in particular "Don't Stop to Watch the Wheels," and "Steamer Lane Breakdown," a country song reminiscent of the Byrds' "Nashville West." But the sound here is mostly McDonald's.

best cd version...but, i remember the vinyl Well Mr Steve Hoffman mastered this cd pretty good, at least significantly better than the original cd release. However, I remember the vinyl version and sad to say it, the new cd release just didn't capture the magic sound of this release. On the vinyl I remember the details in the guitar and vocals, it appears the details have been smoothed out for the cd. Unfortunately the new cd release didn't really engage me in the music like I had hoped. But, for CD this is the best version you can get. Minute By Minute album
$18.05 When this was released in 1971, the Faces also released LONG PLAYER (following the dropping of "Small" from the band's name) and frontman Rod Stewart released the seminal EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY. The three-album output was especially remarkable for the Faces, as the band was more known for skirt-chasing and carousing than recording music. NOD found the Faces fusing together a grittier blues and soul sound than on past efforts, which were marked by a rather modish sound and Stewart's then-folkier leanings.
The group includes enough heartfelt ruminations to add a sentimental edge to the otherwise rip-roaring mix of material. Among the latter class of songs are a shambling cover of Chuck Berry's "Memphis, Tennessee" and "Stay With Me," the Faces' only hit and the quintessential groupie kiss-off. Stewart's talents as a balladeer are no less effective, with songs like ...
| | Deep Purple Who Do We Think We Are CD (1973)
Minute By Minute CD music
$17.49 After establishing itself as a hard-rock giant, thanks to endless touring and the release of such milestone records as MACHINE HEAD and IN ROCK, Deep Purple was in a state of turmoil when it went into the studio to record 1972's WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE? Despite all the infighting, the band pulled together long enough to record seven tracks that only bolstered the band's reputation.
The best-known song, "Woman From Tokyo," boasted a riff as memorable as the one that defined "Smoke on the Water" and was later admitted by Ritchie Blackmore to have been cribbed from Eric Clapton's "Cat Squirrel." Although Blackmore's always-impressive riffing stands out on such songs as "Mary Long" and "Place in Line," this album also spotlights how far Jon Lord's contributions on organ went toward defining the band's sound. Lord's ...
| | Beach Boys Pet Sounds CD (1966) Gold
Minute By Minute music CDs
$26.05 This is more than just an album by a great American band--it's THE great American pop album, an ambitious foray into the intricacies of harmony and melody. Masterminded by Brian Wilson, PET SOUNDS changed the rules of rock & roll. Once upon a time, rock and pop albums consisted of an artist's hit singles and the remainder was mostly filler. Wilson's production brought the concept of recording an album to a new level. He refined Phil Spector's wall-of-sound production style into a more complex, stunning approach. The result was inspired by the Beatles' RUBBER SOUL, and was, in turn, an inspiration for SGT. PEPPER.
The devoutly romantic "God Only Knows" and the hopeful "Wouldn't It Be Nice" reflect an innocent time of yearning post-adolescence. From the complex upward progressions of "You Still Believe In Me" to the heartbeat bass of "Don't Talk (Put Your Head On ...

Minute By Minute CD music
$17.95 WHEEL OF FORTUNE was nominated for Best Traditional Folk Album in the 37th Annual Grammy Awards.
In 1993, ex-Pentangle leader John Renbourn and ex-Incredible String Band leader Robin Williamson toured together, cleverly billing themselves as the Impenetrable String Tangle. The live WHEEL OF FORTUNE captures the spirit of that tour, showing how well the two multi-instrumentalists mesh together. Williamson's fascination for obscure early instruments like the Celtic harp gives an authentic feeling to Renbourn's medieval ...
