Ayreon Final Experiment Songs Final Experiment Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) Excellent, too bad its under rated Despite his popularity this till remains one of Arjen Lucassen's most under rated albums, it has never received the recognition it deserves. Out of all the Ayreon CD's this has some of the most skillfully crafted progressive rock elements i have ever heard. If you like Ayreon and you havent heard this album, give it a shot and see where it all began!! Submitted by Stephen (Denver, CO, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
great work, pure art ! The Ayreon saga is just getting better with this special edition of "the Final Experiment". Arjen is probably the most talented artist I know, intertoining riffs, vocals and melodies with such a grace. I love it!! Submitted by younes (Nashville, TN, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Where the 70's were headed Remember when music was an adventure, before corporate Big Music started refusing to sign any artist that wasn't a clone of the current best seller? Each Ayreon album takes you back to those days when music was original, magical, and exciting.
Arjen Lucassen, the man behind the Ayreon project, has just finished a massive undertaking to remaster and reissue all of the Ayreon albums. This album, the first, is the only one to be reissued without extensive remastering due to unavailability of the original master tapes. The sound is still excellent and the music fresh, and it's hard to believe this recording was first released ten years ago.
The bonus disc features newly-recorded acoustic versions of most of the original tracks, and these alone are worth the price. Arjen works with some of the best musicians and vocalists in the business to create his works, and it shows.
Lucassen's project recordings, including Ayreon, Star One and Ambeon, prove that the corporate fat cats haven't a clue. Grab a copy and see where the 70's could have taken us. Submitted by Robin (Austin, TX) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Final Experiment album
$14.35 Star One is the latest project from Arjen Anthony Lucassen (the man who almost single-handedly is Aryeon). Lucassen seems to like to assemble groups of musicians to record his works under various band names. Such is the case with this project. The group here has cut loose with their first project, entitled Space Metal. With a title like that, one might expect to hear a more hard-edged version of the space rock sounds of bands like Hawkwind. That is not, however, the case. Instead, Lucassen and his cohorts (Ed Warby, Sir Russel Allen, Damian Wilson, Dan Swano, Floor Jansen, and various guests) make music that is more like a cross between Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Deep Purple. Of course, the neo-symphonic modes for which Lucassen seems to have such a fondness also appear. The result is an intriguing combo that seems a bit contrived and sterile at times, but certainly should please fans of the prog metal genre. ~ Gary Hill

Final Experiment songs
$15.49 Into the Electric Castle is an epic prog rock opera from Dutch guitarist Arjen Lucassen. The sci-fi story centers around eight strangers brought together into a dimension of no space and no time. The characters in the story are played by varying lead singers, including former Marillion frontman Fish. The supporting cast is a who's who of proggers, which translates into superb musicianship. The story is standard sci-fi fare, but winds up being quite effective with the accompanying score. The massive coordination of such a large project is admirable, but to pull it off with such impressive ...

Final Experiment songs
$13.39 In the mid- to late '90s and early 2000s, some devotees of the Scandinavian metal scene categorized Sweden's Wolverine as melodic death metal; that is, metal that combines death metal elements (including a deep, guttural, demonic-sounding growl) with the nuance and melodic accessibility of classic '70s and '80s power metal. In some cases, melodic death metal has been influenced by progressive rock on top of power metal, and on the prog metal end of melodic death metal, it isn't impossible to find headbangers who hold Slayer, Entombed, Iron Maiden, and Emerson, Lake & Palmer in equally high regard. But it is difficult -- or even impossible -- to make a good argument for Still, Wolverine's third ...
