Tell It Like It Is
$12.95 Jamie/Guyden Dist. Co. celebrates its 50th anniversary by celebrating the artists and musicians of its past with contemporary remixes by Paul Simpson and Tom Moulton of the labels' classic hits like "Yes, I'm Ready" by Barbara Mason and "Waitin for the Rain" by the Fantastic Johnny C. Paul Simpson, whose remix of Marvin Gaye’s "Lets Get It On" Slate Magazine considered better than the original, has used the original multi-track tapes to provide new takes on such hits as, "Yes, I’m Ready" by Barbara Mason; "I Likes To Do It" by the People’s Choice; and "Love is All Right" and "The Horse" by Cliff Nobles. Tom Moulton adds his magic touch to "Waitin for the Rain" and "Yes, I'm Ready." The album also celebrates the great session musicians of Philadelphia - Ronnie Baker on bass, Norman Harris on guitar and Earl Young on drums, the musicians who became MFSB and the backbone of the Philadelphia sound of the 1970s.Tom Moulton has ...

| | Alexis Korner Kornerstoned: Anthology 1958-1983 CD (2004) (Import) United Kingdom
Tell It Like It Is
$22.39 While MUSICALLY RICH...AND FAMOUS documents the second half of British blues godfather Alexis Korner's career, KORNERSTONED adopts a more comprehensive approach, following the pioneering singer/guitarist from the very beginning of his musical life, all the way through every subsequent phase of his development. So we get not only his mid-1960s work with burgeoning blues-rock giants like Paul Rodgers and Steve Marriott, but also his `50s skiffle recordings (basically the British version of jug-band music) with the Ken Colyer band and his own skiffle group, and even an early acoustic guitar duel with famed fingerpicker Davey Graham on "3/4 A.D." Over the course of its two discs, ...

Tell It Like It Is
$7.69 This is a Hyper CD, which contains regular audio tracks and also provides a link to the artist's website with the help of a web browser.
Those who might have pegged quintessential R&B balladeer Toni Braxton as a monochromatic artist in the past will be taken up short by the variety of sonic colors on offer throughout MORE THAN A WOMAN. The moody, mid-tempo "Give it Back" boasts a bit of hip-hop flavor by virtue of a contribution from the Big Tymers. Loon lends a rap to "Hit the Freeway" as well, but the tune is set apart by its strikingly funky, urgent production. "Me and My Boyfriend" boasts some Spanish guitar amid its slinky grooves.
All this eclecticism aside, it's obviously the ballad form ...

| | Bluesguy Schwartz Sun's Gonna Rise Before I Get To Texas CD (2002)
Tell It Like It Is
$10.15 This is a great CD, made for your 'chill mode', throwing Kool B's poetry out front, with Opie & Bluesguy creating acoustic grooves...Kool B, Opie Hendrix & Guy Schwartz ran into each other at the KPFT-FM studios at 2am on February 25th, 2002, while visiting Pat & Rosie Leech during Pat & Rosie's Nightsounds. Pat Leech invited all three to create something spontaneous and new, live on the radio.Sometimes improvisation works OK, and sometimes it works great. This was a great improvisational performance. One voice, one acoustic guitar, and one amplified acoustic guitar.Everything was created live in the flow, and nothing was added later. If you are a fan of Opie Hendrix', or dig Guy Schwartz & his New Jack Hippies, this one won't be an automatic thing for you. It doesn't sound like any CD that either of them have done before. They could never have planned this!Kool B fans will enjoy the poets deep voice and equally deep poetry. If you don't lready know Kool B, think about ...
