In Flagrante Delicto album
$14.45 If the term "journeyman" could be applied to a band, it would be a good fit for UFO. Since 1969, the band has consistently delivered solid albums of no-nonsense hard rock, occasionally dipping into space rock, AOR, and metal along the way. THE VISITOR features original vocalist Phil Mogg and original drummer Andy Parker, along with guitar shredder legend Vinnie Moore (original bassist Pete Way was unable to participate due to health issues). True to form, the album is full of energetic, straight-ahead heavy rock. "Stranger in Town" is driven by a monster riff reminiscent of Deep Purple's 80's comeback PERFECT STRANGERS, while "Saving ...

In Flagrante Delicto music CDs
$16.99 O.S.I are something of a supergroup, revolving around singer/guitarist Jim Matheos of prog-metallists Fate's Warning and keyboardist Kevin Moore, best known for his work with Dream Theater. There are definitely some prog-metal touches here and there on OSI's third album, BLOOD, but this certainly isn't what you'd call a metal record--there ...
| | Heaven & Hell The Devil You Know CDs (2009)
In Flagrante Delicto songs
$14.89 Some things are immune to trends, and Ronnie James Dio's golden voice is one of them. The alleged inventor of the devil-horns symbol (as it pertains to metal) had a memorable stint as the singer of Black Sabbath after St. Ozzy's departure, leaving behind two classic albums in MOB RULES and HEAVEN AND HELL. Though the rest of Sabbath has mainly focused on working with Ozzy in the 2000s, a 2007 tour with Dio whetted their appetites for a fresh collaboration as Heaven & Hell. The result, THE DEVIL YOU KNOW, stands proudly beside the band's prime material. Like anything associated with Dio, the music is unapologetically operatic, with almost every song clocking in at around or over five minutes. The singer wails his tales of darkness and mystical evil over Tony Iommi's trademark doom-inflected chords, heavy as a marble tomb ...
| | Laura Izibor Let The Truth Be Told CD (2009)
In Flagrante Delicto album
$11.18 Laura Izibor is not your cookie-cutter neo-soul singer, and it goes beyond her background: she grew up in Dublin, Ireland. Elements of folk, gospel, and rock grandeur dance about on her 2009 debut, LET THE TRUTH BE TOLD. Opening-track single "Shine" summons the early-1970s, wrapping Tower of Power-style horns, jaunty piano flourishes, and a TAPESTRY-era Carole King pop melody around a modern soul center and a massive chorus hook. Her lyrics may be standard fare of love and ...

| | Bill Evans California Here I Come CD (1967) Reissue; Remastered; Digipak
In Flagrante Delicto album
$9.99 Though Bill Evans's work with his Paul Motian/Scott LaFaro group is rightfully celebrated, many of his later ensembles have been unjustly overlooked. One such unit is his trio with bassist Eddie Gomez and the great Philly Joe Jones on drums. CALIFORNIA HERE I COME, recorded live at the Village Vanguard in 1967, was first released in 1982 as a double album, and was reissued (on a single CD) by Verve in 2004.
As with Evans's other trios, a subtle, dynamic, and infallible interplay is paramount. Evans's playing is as nuanced, fluid, and masterful as ever. However, there is another element with this group--an exuberance rarely heard in Evans's work. Gomez and Jones (the latter an old-school master who blends light beat-keeping with sharp, intense polyrhythms) push Evans to new heights of expression on originals ("Turn Out the Stars") and on numerous standards ("Stella by Starlight" and "'Round Midnight" are highlights). That ...
