Amami Okinawa Shimauta No Subete album
$12.78 STOLAS is the 12th volume in John Zorn's BOOK OF ANGELS series of compositions, and it's a welcome and compelling idea that he decided to re-form his stellar Masada quintet for the occasion. In addition to the rhythm section of Joey Baron and Greg Cohen, trumpeter Dave Douglas, and pianist Uri Caine, Zorn enlisted tenor sax giant Joe Lovano to replace him on all but one cut where he adds his alto, making the group a sextet. Here klezmer, Yiddish folk music, bossa nova, and other Latin jazz all come together in a seamless meld of tunes that accent the symmetry of ensemble play as much as they do an extremely advanced sense of ensemble harmonics, rhythmic invention, and, of course, tautly arranged spaces for individual improvisation--check out the album's longest cut, "Tagriel," for evidence as Zorn's composition not only travels genres but centuries. Amami Okinawa Shimauta No Subete CD music
$11.39 You've never heard anything quite like this before."I Wanna Howl" represents a sort of culmination of Pitt Reeves' work writing and recording his original brand of alternative world rock, which he developed while living and playing in bands in the Peoples' Republic of Southeast Portland, Oregon, USA. This music is original in the truest sense. Drawing from classic and modern rock influences, early blues, ska, Reggae, and afro-beat, Pitt Reeves achieves a new world of sound that rings simultaneously as both fresh and timeless. Each song stands firmly on it's own, richly textured and layered, yet driven by simple and powerful melodic and rhythmic motifs. No two songs sound alike, yet the album still holds itself together as a unified work of art.The physical CD is packaged almost entirely in recycled ...
