After the tremendous response to the hit single "Emerge," Fischerspooner's 2001 debut album was re-worked and re-released in 2003 as #1. The duo delivered ODYSSEY in 2005. Group masterminds Casey Spooner and Warren Fischer still channel the spirit of early-1980s electronic pop by referencing Depeche Mode, Dead or Alive, Yaz, and Erasure. But while they come across as electro-pop traditionalists, they are firmly entrenched in the aesthetics of the DJ and '90s club culture. The sophistication of their stylistic brew and formidable studio skills is apparent throughout ODYSSEY.
In addition to their sleek, beautiful sonic surfaces, Fischerspooner construct mesmerizing synth patterns and melodic hooks that are immediately accessible. Sure to rival "Emerge" as the group's most popular dance anthem, "Just Let Go" rides along on a propulsive programmed drum beat, a winding synth-bass line, and an ecstatic chorus. "Cloud" is a dreamy reverie, contrasting with the electro-funk of "Never Win." Even when Fischerspooner gets political ("We Need a War"), their grip on pitch-perfect neo-New Wave never falters, making ODYSSEY an excellent listen from beginning to end.

Really quite good The first time listening I just kind of was like "whatever", but this is actually really well done. Not too polished, catchy, interesting to listen to. Worth checking out Submitted by mangledcougar (san diego) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
Wonderful and Satisfying. This Album hits me On some majorly emotional High notes...Everything Personal and Everything external.
Microcosm to macrocosm.
It makes for a highly sensual and intimate Relationship with this worldy moment of uncertainty.
The Lyrics are a Sublime Voice of Todays Generation as well As voices from Ghosts of the past by adding the nostalgic Club Music Orgasma-histeria of the 80s and 90s.
This album was inspiration enough to make me quit my day Job and jump into my own control as a full-time freelance artist...to which I might add is going quite successfully.
Thanks, Fischerpooner! Submitted by Amber Ray (NY,NY,USA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo

A definite must!!!! Great!! Really Great!!
Beautiful soundscapes mixed with the usual electro glam sensation that they create. Its seems the album has a slight inflence from the guys from AIR.
One cant forget the fact that this is a dance album with some killer phat tracks.
The Album is beautifully produced with truely origional sounds.
Fantastic one to them, nice album to follow up from their last one. Submitted by bluehousesa (South Africa) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
